Why you’ll love it.

Progressive exfoliation that keeps skin balanced.

“Stronger” is not automatically “better” when it comes to exfoliation. We think of P50T when someone tells us their skin gets oily but they don’t want to strip it, or that they want P50 but are nervous about over-exfoliating. Its purpose isn’t to make your skin tingle as much as possible. It is to exfoliate progressively while helping the skin stay balanced.

Tingling is not proof that P50 is working. A little temporary sensation can happen when you first introduce it, but burning, persistent stinging or pronounced redness is not something to push through. The goal is results, not suffering for the plot.

Why does the skin’s acid pH matter?

Healthy skin keeps a slightly acidic surface, the acid mantle, which supports barrier function, comfort and the skin’s natural ecosystem. Over-cleansing and overly aggressive products can disturb it.

That is the principle behind the Lotion P50 family: exfoliate while supporting the epidermis and its acid pH. P50T pairs exfoliation with moisturizing, rebalancing ingredients, so the goal is not just removing surface cells. It is better-functioning, more balanced-looking skin.

A thoughtful choice if…

Your Skin Instant is seborrheic: excess surface sebum, a T-zone that turns shiny quickly, congestion or uneven-looking texture. You want regular exfoliation that stays progressive rather than aggressive.

Consider first…

If dullness and dark spots are your main concern, Lotion P50 PIGM 400 is the other face P50 available in Canada. If your skin is thin, reactive, dehydrated or currently irritated, book a consultation before starting any Lotion P50. Do not use during treatment with retinoic acid, or alongside other AHA products without professional guidance.

  1. Start with clean skin

    Cleanse with the Biologique Recherche cleanser suited to your Skin Instant.

  2. Dab on Lotion P50T

    Apply with gentle upward dabbing movements. Do not rub, and avoid the eye contour.

  3. Follow with serum and cream

    P50 is the preparation step, not the whole routine.

  4. Finish with SPF

    Avoid immediate sun exposure after application, and wear sunscreen every morning.

When first introducing P50T, moisten the cotton pad with water before adding a few drops. Once your skin has adjusted, apply it to a dry pad. Do not apply to scratched or irritated skin. Not suitable for children. For external use only.

A few useful details before making it part of your routine.

Which Lotion P50 formulas are available in Canada?

Two for the face: Lotion P50T and Lotion P50 PIGM 400. Lotion P50, P50W and P50V are not currently available here. Choose P50T for excess sebum, shine and congestion, and P50 PIGM 400 for dullness, dark spots and uneven pigmentation. We also carry Lotion P50 Corps for the body and Lotion P50 Capillaire for the scalp.

Is P50T for all skin types?

That is older positioning. Biologique Recherche now recommends P50T specifically for seborrheic Skin Instants: skin prone to excess sebum, oiliness and shine.

Is P50T the gentlest P50? Can sensitive skin use it?

We wouldn’t describe it simply as “the gentlest.” Its exfoliation is designed to minimize the discomfort associated with acids and improve tolerance, but it is recommended for seborrheic Skin Instants. If your skin is thin, reactive, dehydrated or currently irritated, book a consultation first so we can confirm whether a Lotion P50 suits you right now.

Does P50T help pores and breakouts?

By reducing excess surface sebum and refining surface cells, P50T can help the complexion look smoother and more refined, and its purifying action makes it relevant for blemish-prone, seborrheic Skin Instants. Pores don’t permanently open or close, and P50T is not an acne treatment. If visible pores are your main concern, Sérum Dermopore may also help.

Should P50T tingle?

It may create a temporary sensation when first introduced, but tingling is not a measure of effectiveness. Burning, persistent stinging, pronounced redness or ongoing discomfort mean the routine should be reassessed.

Can I use P50T every day?

Frequency should be personalized to your current Skin Instant, your tolerance and the rest of your routine. Exfoliating more often doesn’t automatically give better results.

Can I use P50T with retinol?

Biologique Recherche advises against using P50T during treatment with retinoic acid, and against combining it with other AHA products. If you use retinol, prescription tretinoin or other exfoliating treatments, contact our team so we can help you avoid unnecessary overlap.

Does P50T contain salicylic acid?

The current formula contains sodium salicylate rather than salicylic acid itself. Its main exfoliant is lactic acid, an AHA, and niacinamide appears near the top of the ingredient list.

What if I have a reaction to a Biologique Recherche product?

Before purchasing any Biologique Recherche product, we highly recommend a consultation with one of our estheticians, virtually through Google Meet or in person at our Edmonton boutique. An appointment is required.

In the event of a reaction, Biologique Recherche requires photos of the reaction and the product, the lot number found on the product or the bottom of the box, and proof of a consultation with one of our estheticians before they can review the concern. If you purchase without a consultation and experience a reaction, we will be unable to provide a refund.

I typically purchase PIGM 400 but wanted to try P50T as my skin experienced a slight plateau with PIGM 400. Despite having rosacea, my skin does seem to love this version as well. It leaves my skin smooth and balanced.

I can’t comment if it makes a difference or not. Because of my sensitive skin, I have only used this a few times so far. But I like to say I don’t have a reaction to it (no stinging). I know people have commented that this is a holy grail of all. In time it will tell I suppose.

WOW - I've been using this twice a day now for just over a week and am already seeing and feeling a big difference in my skin. You can certainly feel this stuff working - it tingles - I think if you have sensitive skin, you'll want to introduce this product slowly - Not crazy about the smell of it but you very quickly stop noticing it. it has a vague, vinegar smell. Try a small bottle - you'll love it!
