How does it feel?
Expect a vibrating, exfoliating sensation as the handpiece moves across the skin, followed by a softer massage sensation. Comfort is individual: tell your facialist how it feels so the treatment can be adjusted.
Is this a chemical peel or microneedling?
Bloomea resurfaces through mechanical exfoliation: a specialised tip physically polishes the skin’s surface. Chemical peels exfoliate with a solution; microneedling creates controlled punctures with needles. The appropriate choice depends on your skin and your goals.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin or active acne?
Not every skin is ready for resurfacing. Please speak with us first if your skin is very sensitive, irritated or inflamed. We do not treat over active acne, sunburn, open skin or an active rash.
Tell us about skin conditions, allergies, prescription skincare and recent procedures. Any unexplained or suspicious lesion should be assessed by a healthcare professional before treatment.
Will I need time to recover?
There is usually no need to take time away from everyday activities, although temporary flushing, warmth or sensitivity can occur. We’ll give you aftercare based on your skin’s response.
For a first treatment, speak with us before scheduling close to an important event.
How should I prepare?
Follow the preparation advice provided for your appointment. Our current guidance is to:
- Pause cosmetic retinol, exfoliating acids and scrubs for at least 3 days beforehand.
- Avoid waxing or laser hair removal on the area for at least 7 days beforehand.
- Tell us about prescription products and recent peels, lasers or microneedling so we can confirm timing.
Keep your routine gentle and continue sun protection. Do not change prescribed treatment without guidance from your prescriber.
What should I do afterward?
Keep skincare gentle, moisturise and protect the treated area from sun exposure with appropriate sunscreen. Our current guidance is to avoid makeup and exfoliating or active skincare for at least 24 hours; your facialist may recommend longer depending on your skin.
How many appointments will I need?
A single treatment can be a refresh. When we’re working on a specific surface concern, a series may be more appropriate. The number, frequency and maintenance schedule depend on your skin and how it responds.
We’ll explain the recommendation and cost before you decide on ongoing care.
Are there savings for a series?
Our published Bloomea series offer is 10% off your second session and 20% off subsequent treatments in your series. Ask our team to confirm the eligible appointments and total for your personalised plan.
