- Use morning and evening after cleansing, toning and applying serum.
- Apply a pea-sized amount to the face, neck and décolleté. Massage gently until absorbed, using upward motions without pulling or stretching the skin.
- In the morning, follow with broad-spectrum sunscreen. In the evening, use as the final step unless applying a facial oil or more occlusive treatment.
- If the skin feels particularly dehydrated, apply Essence Moisturizer while the skin is still slightly damp from Iso-Cell Recovery Solution or a hydrating serum. This helps the humectants work with the moisture already present at the skin’s surface.

This is the moisturizer we reach for when a client tells us: “I need something simple, hydrating and fragrance-free—but I do not want a heavy cream.”
We especially like Essence Moisturizer for sensitive or sensitized skin, men who want an uncomplicated routine, teenagers beginning proper skincare and clients who find most moisturizers too rich beneath sunscreen. It gives the skin what it needs without making the routine feel like a part-time job.
Its 4.2 oz size also makes it a very practical daily moisturizer. Use it generously on the neck and décolleté rather than carefully rationing every last drop for the face.
We would not choose it as the first option for someone with very dry, lipid-depleted or mature skin who remains tight throughout the day. In that situation, we would usually move to Bio Cell Rejuvenating Cream or 24 Hr. Age Defying Cream.
Fragrance-free does not mean reaction-proof. Sensitive skin can still respond to peptides, ferments, collagen, shea butter or botanical ingredients. Patch test when the skin is highly reactive, and remember that a moisturizer can support sensitized skin but cannot treat eczema, rosacea or another inflammatory skin condition.

When the skin is sensitized, we recommend keeping the routine quiet. Pause unnecessary exfoliants, scrubs and overlapping actives until ordinary products feel comfortable again.
Essence Moisturizer, Bio Cell Rejuvenating Cream or 24 Hr. Age Defying Cream?
These three moisturizers provide different levels of richness.
- Choose Essence Moisturizer for lightweight, fragrance-free hydration suited to normal, combination, sensitive or sensitized skin.
- Choose Bio Cell Rejuvenating Cream for normal to dry skin wanting a silkier, more nourishing moisturizer with peptides, ceramides and botanical oils. Its current ingredient list includes fragrance.
- Choose 24 Hr. Age Defying Cream for dry, mature or crepey-looking skin requiring richer, longer-lasting moisture and barrier support.
- Choose Hyaluronic Shea Mask as an intensive overnight treatment rather than a lightweight daily moisturizer.
If a moisturizer disappears instantly and the skin feels tight again within an hour, Essence may be too light. If richer creams feel coated or uncomfortable, Essence is likely the better place to begin.
Sensitive Skin and Sensitized Skin
Sensitive skin and sensitized skin are not necessarily the same.
Sensitive skin generally describes an ongoing tendency toward reactivity. Sensitized skin is often temporary and may develop after excessive exfoliation, retinoid overuse, weather exposure, professional treatments or repeatedly changing products.
Essence Moisturizer can support hydration and barrier comfort in either situation, but moisturizer alone cannot correct a routine that continues to overwhelm the skin.
When we see tightness, persistent redness, unusual shine, stinging from ordinarily gentle products or sudden intolerance, our recommendation is usually to simplify: use a gentle cleanser, a straightforward moisturizer and daily sunscreen until the skin feels stable.
Fragrance-Free Does Not Mean Hypoallergenic
No fragrance, parfum or essential oils appear in the current published ingredient list. This makes Essence Moisturizer a thoughtful option for clients avoiding aromatic ingredients.
However, “fragrance-free” does not guarantee that no one will react to the formula. Any cosmetic ingredient can be poorly tolerated by an individual, particularly when the skin barrier is already compromised.
Clients with highly reactive skin should patch test and introduce one new product at a time. Persistent burning, swelling, itching or rash is not an adjustment period and should not be treated as something the skin needs to “push through.”

Who do we recommend Essence Moisturizer to most often?
We recommend it when someone wants a straightforward, fragrance-free moisturizer that hydrates without feeling heavy. It is particularly useful for normal, combination, sensitive or temporarily sensitized skin.
Why do we often recommend it to men?
Not because men require different skin biology, but because many of our male clients want something simple, fragrance-free and comfortable that they will actually use consistently. Essence Moisturizer checks those boxes beautifully.
Is Essence Moisturizer actually an essence or a moisturizer?
Despite the name, this is a moisturizer. It has a lightweight emulsion texture and should be applied after toner and serum, before sunscreen.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes, it is one of the Le Mieux moisturizers we are most likely to consider for sensitive or sensitized skin because it is lightweight and fragrance-free. That said, highly reactive skin should still patch test.
Is it suitable for rosacea?
We may consider it for rosacea-prone skin that needs fragrance-free hydration, but it does not treat rosacea. During an active flare or when the skin is persistently burning, swollen or inflamed, we recommend consulting a dermatologist or qualified healthcare provider.
Is it moisturizing enough for dry skin?
It may be enough for mildly dry or dehydrated skin. If the skin remains tight, flaky or uncomfortable after application, we would move to Bio Cell Rejuvenating Cream or 24 Hr. Age Defying Cream.
Can oily or combination skin use it?
Yes. This is one of the Le Mieux moisturizers we would consider for someone who needs hydration but dislikes rich creams. Begin with a pea-sized amount and adjust according to comfort.
Will it clog pores?
Le Mieux does not identify the formula as non-comedogenic on its official product page. It contains shea butter and several emollients, so individual responses can vary. We recommend introducing it gradually if congestion is a concern.
Can acne-prone skin use it?
Possibly, particularly when acne treatments are creating dryness. However, Essence Moisturizer is not an acne treatment. Persistent, painful or cystic breakouts should be assessed professionally.
Is it truly fragrance-free?
Yes. No fragrance, parfum or essential oils appear in the current published ingredient list. Naturally occurring raw-material aromas may still be present.
Does it contain ten forms of hyaluronic acid?
Yes. The current formula lists ten forms and derivatives within the Hya10+ Complex.
Does more hyaluronic acid always mean more hydration?
Not automatically. Multiple forms can offer different film-forming and moisture-binding properties, but the complete formula, environment and condition of the skin barrier determine how hydrated the skin ultimately feels.
Does marine collagen rebuild collagen in the skin?
No. Topical collagen primarily conditions the surface and helps form a moisture-supporting film. It does not replace collagen within the deeper layers of the skin.
Is Essence Moisturizer vegan?
No. Le Mieux identifies the collagen in this formula as marine-derived. The formula also contains chitosan, whose source is not specified in the published ingredient list.
Can I use it with retinol or exfoliating acids?
Yes. We often recommend a straightforward moisturizer alongside active treatments. Apply the active as directed, then follow with Essence Moisturizer. If the skin remains persistently irritated, reduce the active rather than simply adding more moisturizer.
Can I use it after a professional treatment?
Only when approved by the professional who performed the treatment. Post-procedure recommendations depend on the procedure, skin condition and required recovery period.
Can it be used under sunscreen and makeup?
Yes. This is one of the reasons we like it for morning routines. Apply a thin layer, allow it to absorb and follow with sunscreen before makeup.
Why is my skincare pilling over it?
Pilling is often caused by using too much product, applying several layers too quickly or combining incompatible textures. We recommend using a pea-sized amount and allowing each layer to settle before applying the next.
Can I use Essence Moisturizer on my neck and décolleté?
