The Loshen perspective

Why you’ll love it.

A gentle, professional first step into retinol.

Retinol 30 is where we start most clients who are new to retinol. The 0.3% retinol is encapsulated and releases gradually, so you get the renewing effect of vitamin A with far less redness, dryness and peeling. Used consistently, skin looks smoother, more refined and more even, with softer-looking fine lines.

Squalane and vitamin E keep the barrier comfortable along the way, which matters in our dry winters. Go slowly, be patient, and wear sunscreen every day: that is the whole secret.

Skin knowledge

Beyond the ingredient list.

Bioactive Retinol 30 or Retinol 60?

Same base, same encapsulation, different strength. Retinol 30 contains 0.3% retinol and is the place to start. Retinol 60 contains 0.5% and is for skin that has already completed the Retinol 30 protocol comfortably.

Our lens: more is not faster. Skin that is pushed too hard gets red and flaky, and you end up taking weeks off. Start with 30, build slowly, and we will tell you during a follow-up when your skin is ready for 60.

Is this right for you?

A little guidance for your next step.

A thoughtful choice if…

Your skin is normal to oily, you are new to retinol, and you want to work on the look of texture, congestion, uneven tone or fine lines.

Consider first…

A virtual consultation with our estheticians is required before purchase. Retinol is a form of vitamin A: if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning a pregnancy, check with your healthcare provider before use. Retinol makes skin more sensitive to the sun, so daily broad-spectrum SPF is essential.

Where
Face, after a patch test
  1. Cleanse and dry

In the evening, cleanse and let the skin dry completely. Patch test a discreet area at least 24 hours before your first full application.

  2. Apply Retinol 30

A small amount over the face. Start once a week for the first few weeks, then every other night for a month, then nightly only if your skin stays comfortable.

  3. Comfort as needed

If your skin feels tight, follow with a gentle hydrating serum or moisturizer.

  4. SPF every morning

Retinol makes skin more sensitive to the sun. Wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen every day while using it.

Product questions

Your questions, answered.

A few useful details before making it part of your routine.

How often should I use it at first?

Once a week for the first few weeks, then every other night for a month, then nightly only if your skin stays comfortable. Patch test first.

Why is a consultation required?

Biophora is a professional active brand. A virtual consultation with one of our estheticians lets us make sure retinol is right for your skin and build the routine around it.

Can I use it during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

Retinol is a form of vitamin A. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning a pregnancy, check with your healthcare provider before use, and tell us during your consultation.

Do I really need sunscreen every day?

Yes, even in winter and on cloudy days. Retinol makes skin more sensitive to the sun, so a broad-spectrum SPF every morning is part of the routine.

Is some dryness or flaking normal?

A little tightness can happen at the start. If your skin stings, turns red or flakes, space out your applications and add a gentle hydrating serum. If it continues, stop and contact us.

Worth the wait.
