When was the last time you treated your scalp like skin?

We think of P50 Capillaire when someone tells us their roots are oily the day after washing, they use a lot of dry shampoo, their scalp always feels coated, or their hair never feels truly clean at the roots. That doesn’t always mean washing more often. Sometimes the scalp itself needs an exfoliating, rebalancing step.

We especially like it before shampooing, so the formula gets real contact time on the scalp. And one important thing: don’t scrub. The acids are already doing the work. Use your fingertips gently and let the formula do its job.

Oily hair or oily scalp?

When hair turns greasy quickly, the issue usually starts at the scalp. Sebum itself is essential; the problem is excess. Add sweat, shampoo residue, dry shampoo and styling products, and the scalp can feel coated, itchy or flaky. That is why a stronger shampoo is not always the answer.

Our lens: treat the scalp like skin. A clarifying shampoo cleanses during washing; P50 Capillaire is a targeted scalp step that exfoliates, helps regulate excess sebum and rebalances. They do different jobs.

A thoughtful choice if…

Your roots turn oily quickly, you rely on dry shampoo or styling products, your scalp feels coated or itchy, or you notice visible flakes. Biologique Recherche recommends it for all Scalp Instants, especially those prone to excess sebum.

Consider first…

Do not apply to a scratched or irritated scalp. If flaking or itching is persistent, severe, or comes with pronounced redness, soreness or hair loss, have your scalp assessed rather than exfoliating more. It is not a hair-growth treatment, and if you have just coloured your hair, confirm timing with your colourist first.

  1. Apply to a dry scalp

    Part the hair and apply directly to the scalp, section by section.

  2. Massage gently

    Use your fingertips, never your nails. No scratching or vigorous rubbing.

  3. Leave on, or shampoo

    Leave on without rinsing, or wait 5 to 10 minutes and then shampoo.

  4. Protect exposed scalp

    Avoid direct sun right after application, especially along a part or thinner areas.

Avoid the eyes. Do not apply to a scratched, irritated or compromised scalp. Not for children. For external use only.

A few useful details before making it part of your routine.

Is Lotion P50 Capillaire good for an oily scalp?

Yes, it is one of its main uses. Biologique Recherche recommends it for all Scalp Instants and especially those prone to excess sebum. It helps regulate oil while exfoliating accumulated residue.

Does it help flakes and dandruff?

Its exfoliating action helps remove visible flakes, scales and buildup. But flakes have many possible causes: oil, dryness, buildup, irritation or a scalp condition. If flaking is persistent or significant, have it assessed rather than assuming more exfoliation is the answer.

Does Lotion P50 Capillaire help an itchy scalp?

Biologique Recherche describes it as helping relieve the feeling of an itchy scalp. Itching has many causes, though: if it is severe, persistent or comes with broken skin or significant redness, stop exfoliating the area and have your scalp assessed.

Do I use it before or after shampoo? Do I rinse it out?

Either way. Biologique Recherche’s standard application is a leave-on lotion, not rinsed. You can also apply it to a dry scalp 5 to 10 minutes before shampooing, which is how we especially like it. Always apply to a dry scalp, never wet.

Can I use Lotion P50 Capillaire every day?

Biologique Recherche’s current directions don’t set one frequency for every scalp. Because it contains exfoliating acids, we adjust frequency to your Scalp Instant and tolerance rather than assuming daily use suits everyone.

Can I use it on a sensitive or dry scalp?

Biologique Recherche notes that appropriate scalp exfoliation can help when sensitivity or dryness contributes to buildup and scaling. But never apply it to a scratched or irritated scalp, and if yours is highly reactive, speak with our team before starting.

Does it help with dry shampoo buildup?

Yes, and we particularly like it for that. Powders, starches, styling products and sebum collect at the roots; used as a pre-shampoo reset, P50 Capillaire helps loosen and remove that residue before you wash.

Can I use it on colour-treated hair? Does it help hair growth?

It is applied to the scalp rather than the lengths, but if you have just coloured or chemically treated your hair, confirm timing with your colourist or our team first. A cleaner, balanced scalp is a better environment for hair, but we don’t position it as a hair-growth treatment.

Saves your Scalp

I had dandruff and dry scalp for ever, and while shampooing i had hairs all over the tub. This particular toner saved me from hairfall and dry scalp. And i am honest about it. But keep in mind not to apply it, if you are planning to go out somewhere, this kind of makes your hair a little sticky, but that goes away once you wash it off

Didn't work for me, but it's probably my fault.

I bought this to remedy my scalp which was irritated with build up on the scalp. Because this is exfoliating and I was experiencing buildup and itchiness, I thought this would help. However, I think I misunderstood my scalp woes. I am still not sure, but I think I needed something lightly moisturizing during these dry Winter months rather than exfoliating. Therefore this didn't work super well for me, but I will try it again in the Summer months.

Miracle potion for scalp

I have struggled with itchy, inflamed, flaky scalp on and off for the last 15 years. While my scalp it dry my hair is oily, and when I try to address the greasiness of my hair it turns coarse, frizzy and my scalp gets really dry, flaky and itchy. I had almost surrendered to my fate when I came across this product and after the unbelievable success I had with BR products for my face I thought sure it couldn't hurt to at least try.

I am so glad that I did. I sprayed this on my scalp liberally and massaged it in for about 15-20 minutes. Then I rinsed it off and my hair was soft right away. Since it was a wash day for my I continued with a masque, a shampoo and conditioner but the difference in my hair from just the addition of this product was phenomenal. I am still using the same masque, shampoo and conditioner as before but after this my hair was soft, my scalp was calm, flake and itch free and my hair was just so shiny!

Amazing product for the scalp

This is my second bottle. I use it mainly for my scalp. I used to have itchy flaky scalp and oily. After using this it got rid of all my scalp issues. I can also go longer without washing my hair compared to before I started using this product. My hair seems healthier. I use this once a week. I massage it on my scalp with a scalp massager and leave it on for 20 minutes before washing. Love this product pricey but worth it. I can't for back to my oily, itchy and flaky scalp.

P50 for your scalp!!! I'm a newbie to this product & used it for the first time today. The bottle has a spray pump which works well for easy application. Product has that hint of vinegar familiar P50 scent. Shampooed my hair 30 mins after applying the product and my hair dryer silky smooth looking afterwards. Another 5 star product from Biologique Recherché!
