How deep does light go?
Look beneath the surface, then choose a colour to follow its path through the skin.
Choose any colour to follow its illustrative path.
Light does not stop at a precise line. These paths show a general pattern, not a measured depth or a promise of results. Every skin and device is different.
Explore the other light modes
A colour name alone does not tell us its depth or prove a benefit.
Included in this device
Different light. Different jobs.
Explore every colour, even when it is not included in your selected device. The check mark identifies this model’s modes. Choose a colour to discover Loshen devices that offer it.
- 01Blue is more surface-focused.
Often used in devices for some inflammatory pimples.
- 02Red and near-infrared travel further.
Often used together in studies of skin texture and fine lines.
- 03Deeper does not mean better.
The right device, dose and routine matter more than a colour count.
Blue
Used by some devices for inflammatory pimples. It does not treat every type of acne. Pigmentation-prone skin needs extra care.
A little more detail
Blue light is used in some devices for inflammatory pimples. It does not treat every kind of acne: blackheads, whiteheads and deeper cysts need a different approach.
Pigmentation-prone skin needs particular care with blue light. Read the caution below.

Often used for fine lines and skin texture. Results depend on the device and routine.
A little more detail
Red light is studied for concerns such as fine lines and skin texture. Trials have measured changes in collagen and elasticity, but the result belongs to the tested device and routine.
A red glow alone cannot tell you the dose reaching your skin.

Light your eyes cannot see. It is often paired with red light. No visible glow does not mean the light is absent.
A little more detail
Near-infrared sits beyond visible red. It is often paired with red light in skin studies and generally reaches deeper than blue light. Invisible does not mean inactive—or automatically more effective.
Shown in taupe here because near-infrared has no visible colour.

Light, made simple

A little understanding goes a long way.
Red, blue, near-infrared… each brings a different kind of light to your skin. The useful question is what your device delivers, and how it fits your needs.
What does “nm” mean?
A nanometre is a tiny unit of length. It describes a light wave’s wavelength—not the device’s power or a promised result.

Questions & sources
A few things worth knowing.
Does a higher wavelength mean a stronger treatment?
No. Wavelength describes the light. Irradiance describes how much light power reaches an area of skin; exposure time also shapes the dose. Compare the complete device and its tested routine.
Can I leave it on longer to get more benefit?
Follow the model’s timer and frequency. More light is not automatically more useful; photobiomodulation responses depend on dose. Do not extend a session or stack treatments to chase faster results.
Do I need to feel heat for it to work?
Heat is not a measure of LED effectiveness. Some hybrid devices add heating or radiofrequency as separate functions; those have their own instructions.
Can I use my usual serum underneath?
It depends on the model. Some routines begin on clean, dry skin; others require a particular mask, serum or conductive primer. Follow the device-specific ritual below.

The Five LED Wavelengths
Deep Near-Infrared Light — 1064 nm
FAQ™’s deepest-penetrating wavelength is designed to support cellular activity and skin rejuvenation beneath the surface. It may also be selected for targeted body and wellness-focused treatments according to the manufacturer’s guidance.
- Near-Infrared Light — 850 nm: Near-infrared light penetrates beyond the visible surface of the skin to support a rejuvenated appearance, visible firmness and overall skin vitality.
- Red Light — 650 nm: Red LED light supports collagen-related skin functions and helps improve the visible appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, firmness, pigmentation and dullness.
- Amber Light — 570 nm: Amber light helps visibly soothe stressed-looking skin, reduce the appearance of redness and encourage a calmer, more balanced-looking complexion.
- Blue Light — 420 nm: Blue light is intended for blemish-prone skin. It helps improve the appearance of blemishes, enlarged oil glands and uneven-looking texture.
How It Works
The FAQ™ Dual LED Panel uses 512 high-performance LEDs capable of delivering light intensity of up to 200 mW/cm², according to the manufacturer.
FOREO states that the device provides 99.99% light purity and can deliver targeted light up to 10 mm beneath the skin’s surface, depending on the wavelength selected.
Its patented diamond-shaped lenses are inspired by the multiple facets of a diamond. Rather than directing each beam along only one path, the lenses divide and disperse the light across several angles. This helps the light reach the treatment area from multiple directions for broader, more consistent coverage.
The dual-panel design can be adjusted around the face or positioned toward the neck, décolleté and selected areas of the body.
Customizable Treatments
Choose a single light directly from the device or combine up to three wavelengths at the same time.
The FAQ™ Swiss app also provides customizable settings, usage guidance and three pre-set programs:
- Quick Refresh: 5 minutes
- Anti-Acne: 10 minutes
- Anti-Wrinkle: 15 minutes
Program names are determined by the manufacturer and appear within the FAQ™ Swiss app.
Clinical Results
In third-party clinical testing involving 33 healthy female and male participants between 31 and 55 years old over 28 days, the manufacturer reported:
- 40.9% decrease in the appearance of wrinkles
- 43.8% decrease in the appearance of acne
- 36.9% increase in skin firmness
- 33.8% increase in skin elasticity
- 214.3% increase in skin radiance
- 61.3% decrease in skin redness
Individual results may vary. Clinical results should not be interpreted as a guarantee of individual outcomes.

Loshen & Crem’s Recommendation
The most effective LED routine is the one you can follow consistently.
Begin with the guided program that corresponds most closely with your primary skin concern rather than immediately combining several wavelengths. This helps you establish a focused routine and understand how your skin responds.
Use the panel on freshly cleansed, dry skin and position it at the distance recommended in the official instructions. Protective eyewear should always be worn during treatment.
FAQ™ Red Light Peptide Serum can be applied before treatment if desired. When using a different skincare product, confirm that it is compatible with LED light therapy and does not contain ingredients that may increase sensitivity to light.
LED therapy complements a thoughtful skincare ritual but does not replace daily sunscreen, an appropriate home routine or professional guidance.
What Makes It Different
Unlike a wearable LED mask, the FAQ™ Dual LED Panel does not need to rest directly against the skin.
Its adjustable spine and stand allow the two panels to be positioned around the face or directed toward the neck, décolleté and other selected areas. This makes it a versatile option for anyone looking for broader coverage and greater flexibility than a traditional face-only device.
The dual-panel construction houses 512 LEDs while remaining ultra-thin, lightweight and foldable. A detachable power cable simplifies storage, while the matte-gold finish transforms the device into an elegant addition to a vanity, desk or treatment space.
