Why do hands dry out faster than the face?

The backs of the hands are washed many times a day, exposed to cold and dry air, and rarely get the same care as the face. Each wash and every pass of sanitizer strips away some of the lipids that help hold moisture in, which is why knuckles and cuticles are often the first to feel tight or look rough.

Our lens: treat your hands like your face. Reapply after every wash rather than once a day, give knuckles and cuticles extra attention, and on very dry nights use a more generous layer before bed.
