A creamy microdermabrasion polish for smoother, brighter and more refined-looking skin
A rich facial exfoliant that uses ultra-fine alumina crystals to physically lift away accumulated surface cells and polish rough, uneven-looking texture. The creamy formula helps refine the appearance of congested pores and dullness, leaving the complexion immediately softer, smoother and more radiant.
Jojoba oil, shea butter, oat extract and allantoin balance the polishing action with nourishing and conditioning benefits. Microderm Exfoliant is ideal for clients who enjoy the immediate smoothness of a physical exfoliant but want a more cushioned, cream-based formula.
Benefits
- Physically exfoliates accumulated surface cells
- Smooths rough or uneven-looking texture
- Helps brighten a dull, tired-looking complexion

Best For
Microderm Exfoliant is particularly well suited to:
- Dull or lacklustre-looking skin
- Rough or irregular surface texture
- Congested or enlarged-looking pores
- Normal, combination or oily skin
- Dry skin that tolerates physical exfoliation
- Skin that feels uneven beneath makeup
- Those who prefer manual exfoliation over an acid-based treatment
- Weekly maintenance between professional facial treatments
It is not our first choice for highly sensitive skin, rosacea-prone skin, active inflammatory breakouts or a compromised skin barrier.
Why It Is Different
Microderm Exfoliant uses ultra-fine alumina, also known as corundum crystal, to manually polish the skin’s surface. Unlike an acid exfoliant, which loosens bonds between surface cells through chemical activity, these fine particles rely on gentle movement across damp skin.
The crystals are suspended in a creamy base containing jojoba oil, shea butter, rice bran oil and evening primrose oil. This provides slip and cushioning while helping the skin feel soft rather than dry after rinsing.
- Alumina or Corundum Crystal: Ultra-fine physical particles that polish rough texture and lift accumulated surface cells.
- Jojoba Oil and Jojoba Esters: Provide slip, softness and lightweight conditioning.
- Shea Butter: Helps nourish and soften dry-feeling skin.
- Oat Extract and Allantoin: Help comfort and condition the complexion.
- Grape Seed and Açai Extracts: Provide antioxidant support.
- Rice Bran and Evening Primrose Oils: Replenish and support a smoother skin feel.
- Sodium PCA and Sodium Lactate: Humectants that help maintain hydration and post-exfoliation comfort.
How to Use
Use one to three times per week, preferably in the evening.
After cleansing, apply a generous amount to the moistened face and neck. Using very light pressure, massage in circular motions for 30 seconds to two minutes, depending on your skin’s sensitivity.
Avoid the eye area, active breakouts and any irritated or compromised skin. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and pat dry.
Follow with a hydrating serum and moisturizer. Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning.
Loshen & Crem’s Recommendation
Microderm Exfoliant should do the polishing—the pressure from your hands should remain extremely light. Pressing harder will not improve the result and can create unnecessary redness or irritation.
Begin once weekly and massage for approximately 30 seconds. Increase the frequency or massage time only if your skin remains comfortable. Most clients do not need to use it three times per week.
Avoid using it in the same routine as retinol, exfoliating acids, scrubs, peels or other resurfacing treatments. We also recommend pausing it before and after professional peels, laser treatments, microneedling or other procedures until your skincare professional confirms that the skin is ready.
Do not massage directly over inflamed blemishes. Congested skin may benefit from exfoliation, but active, tender or pustular breakouts generally need a gentler approach.
Complete the Le Mieux Smoothing and Hydrating Routine
- Cleanse: Phyto-Nutrient Cleansing Gel or Peptide Foam Cleanser
- Exfoliate: Microderm Exfoliant, one to three times weekly
- Tone and Soothe: Iso-Cell Recovery Solution
- Hydrate: Hyaluronic Serum
- Moisturize: Bio Cell Rejuvenating Cream or Sheer Hydration
- Protect: Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every morning
At-Home Microderm Exfoliation and Professional Microdermabrasion
Microderm Exfoliant is inspired by the polishing action associated with professional microdermabrasion, but the two are not the same treatment.
This product uses fine alumina crystals and manual massage to exfoliate the skin’s surface at home. Professional microdermabrasion is performed using specialized equipment and may combine controlled abrasion with suction.
Microderm Exfoliant can help maintain smoothness and radiance between professional treatments, but it should not be presented as providing the same intensity or results as an in-clinic procedure.
Microderm Exfoliant and Exfoliating Cleansing Gel
Choose Microderm Exfoliant if you want an occasional physical polish that provides immediate smoothness and helps refine rough surface texture.
Choose Exfoliating Cleansing Gel if your skin is oily, blemish-prone or persistently congested and you prefer a cleanser containing 1% salicylic acid and lactic acid.
These products should not automatically be used together in the same routine. Combining physical polishing with an acid cleanser may be too stimulating, particularly for sensitive or dehydrated skin.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Microderm Exfoliant a physical or chemical exfoliant?
It is primarily a physical exfoliant. Ultra-fine alumina crystals manually polish the skin’s surface as the product is gently massaged over damp skin.
Is it the same as professional microdermabrasion?
No. It provides an at-home polishing effect inspired by microdermabrasion, but it does not use professional equipment or suction and should not be expected to produce identical results.
How often should I use it?
Le Mieux recommends one to three times per week. We suggest beginning once weekly and increasing only if the skin remains comfortable.
Should I leave it on for one to two minutes?
No. The current Le Mieux directions say to massage it over moistened skin for 30 seconds to two minutes, depending on sensitivity, and then rinse thoroughly. It is not intended to be left on as a mask.
Can sensitive skin use it?
Very sensitive, reactive or rosacea-prone skin may find physical exfoliation too stimulating. If used, begin with very light pressure for no more than 30 seconds and patch test first.
Can I use it on active breakouts?
Avoid massaging it over inflamed, tender or pustular blemishes. Friction can aggravate already inflamed skin. A professional can help select a more appropriate exfoliation method for active acne.
Does it permanently shrink pores?
No product can permanently change the structural size of a pore. Removing accumulated surface cells and debris may help pores appear smoother and less noticeable.
Can I combine it with retinol or exfoliating acids?
Avoid combining them in the same routine. Alternate Microderm Exfoliant with retinol, leave-on acids or other resurfacing treatments to reduce the risk of over-exfoliation.
Can I use it after a facial, peel or laser treatment?
Do not use it on recently treated or healing skin unless your skincare professional has confirmed that your barrier has fully recovered.
Is it suitable for dry skin?
Dry skin that tolerates physical exfoliation may use it occasionally. Apply very light pressure, limit the massage time and follow with a hydrating serum and moisturizer.
Is it fragrance-free?
No added “Fragrance” or “Parfum” is listed, but the formula contains rosemary, sage and jasmine oils. Fragrance-reactive skin should patch test carefully.
Is Microderm Exfoliant vegan?
No. The current ingredient list includes collagen.
Can Microderm Exfoliant be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
The formula does not list a retinoid, but it contains willow bark extract and several aromatic botanical oils. Le Mieux does not specifically identify it as pregnancy-safe. Consult your physician or qualified healthcare provider before use.
Why is sunscreen important after exfoliating?
Exfoliation removes accumulated surface cells and may leave the skin more vulnerable to environmental exposure. Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher every morning and reapply as directed.
