A multi-acid and enzyme peel-pad treatment for oily, congested and blemish-prone skin

Le Mieux Skin Clarifying Pad is an intensive leave-on exfoliating system designed to refine clogged-looking pores, excess oil, blemishes and uneven texture. The formula combines salicylic, lactic and tartaric acids with papain, a papaya-derived enzyme, to address both pore-related buildup and dead cells on the skin’s surface.

Salicylic acid targets oily congestion, while lactic and tartaric acids help smooth rough texture and improve visible clarity. Papain provides complementary enzymatic exfoliation, and aloe vera, allantoin and licorice root help condition the skin.

Although Le Mieux describes the pads as gentle enough for flexible use, this is a multi-acid formula containing SD Alcohol 40. It should be introduced gradually—particularly if the skin is dehydrated, sensitive or unfamiliar with leave-on exfoliants.

Benefits
  • Exfoliates dead surface cells and pore-clogging buildup
  • Helps clarify congested and blemish-prone skin
  • Refines rough or uneven-looking texture
  • Helps reduce the appearance of excess oil
  • Supports clearer, more balanced-looking pores
  • Helps improve the appearance of flat post-blemish marks
  • Combines alpha hydroxy acids, salicylic acid and papaya enzymes
  • Pre-saturated pad format makes application quick and consistent
  • Aloe vera, allantoin and licorice root help condition the skin
Best For

Skin Clarifying Pad is particularly well suited to:

  • Oily and combination skin

  • Congested or clogged-looking pores

  • Blackheads and whiteheads

  • Recurring blemish-prone areas
  • Excess shine
  • Rough or irregular-looking texture
  • Dullness and visible surface buildup
  • Flat post-blemish discoloration
  • Skin already familiar with exfoliating acids
  • Clients who prefer a convenient peel-pad format

This formula may be too intensive for very dry, sensitive or barrier-impaired skin. Do not apply to broken, freshly picked, sunburned or visibly irritated areas.

Why It Is Different

Skin Clarifying Pad combines three forms of exfoliation in one treatment: oil-soluble salicylic acid, surface-renewing alpha hydroxy acids and papaya-derived enzymatic exfoliation.

This makes it a more comprehensive clarifying treatment than a single-acid toner, but also means that frequency should be guided by the skin’s response.

  • Salicylic Acid: An oil-soluble exfoliating acid that helps loosen excess oil and dead-cell buildup associated with clogged-looking pores.
  • Lactic Acid: An alpha hydroxy acid that smooths uneven texture and supports a brighter-looking complexion.
  • Tartaric Acid: Provides additional surface exfoliation and supports the formula’s acid blend.
  • Papain: A papaya-derived enzyme that helps loosen dead surface cells.
  • Glucosamine HCl: Helps condition the skin and support a smoother, more even-looking appearance.
  • Aloe Vera and Allantoin: Help soothe and condition the complexion.
  • Licorice Root Derivative: Helps comfort the skin and improve the appearance of uneven tone.
  • SD Alcohol 40: Gives the formula its lightweight, quick-drying finish but may feel drying on sensitive or dehydrated skin.
How to Use

Use in the evening.

Before the first application, pour the solution into the jar of dry pads. Close the jar securely and allow the pads to become evenly saturated.

After cleansing, use one to two saturated pads to make two to three gentle passes over the face and neck, avoiding the eyes, lips and broken skin. Do not scrub and do not rinse.

If you are new to leave-on acids, begin with one pad and a single pass once or twice weekly. Increase the number of passes or frequency gradually only if the skin remains comfortable.

Allow the solution to absorb before applying a hydrating serum and moisturizer. Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning while using this product.

Loshen & Crem’s Recommendation

Skin Clarifying Pad is best approached as a treatment—not as an automatic daily toner.

Begin once or twice weekly with one gentle pass. The combination of salicylic, lactic and tartaric acids, papain and alcohol can be highly effective for resilient, oily skin, but using it too aggressively may create dehydration, flaking and increased sensitivity.

Avoid using it in the same evening as Beta Acid, Perfect Renewal, 5% Glyco Polymer Solution, retinoids, benzoyl peroxide or another exfoliating treatment. Pair it with a gentle cleanser and supportive hydration.

If the skin begins to feel tight, unusually shiny, persistently red or uncomfortable when applying otherwise gentle products, pause exfoliation and focus on restoring barrier comfort. Keep the jar tightly closed after adding the solution so the pads remain saturated.

Complete the Le Mieux Clarifying Routine
  1. Cleanse: Phyto-Nutrient Cleansing Gel
  2. Exfoliate: Skin Clarifying Pad one to three evenings per week
  3. Hydrate: Hyaluronic Serum after the solution has absorbed
  4. Soothe: O² Calming Gel or a moisturizer suited to your skin
  5. Protect: Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning

On exfoliation evenings, keep the remaining steps hydrating and uncomplicated. Adding more active products will not necessarily produce clearer skin more quickly.

Skin Clarifying Pad, Perfect Renewal or Beta Acid?

These products overlap, but they are not interchangeable.

  • Choose Skin Clarifying Pad for oily, resilient and blemish-prone skin that needs a comprehensive combination of salicylic acid, alpha hydroxy acids and enzymatic exfoliation.

  • Choose Perfect Renewal for uneven tone, post-blemish marks, dullness and texture when a more measured, alcohol-free 10% mandelic acid formula is preferred. Perfect Renewal can also be used on blemish-prone body areas.

  • Choose Beta Acid when blackheads, excess oil and clogged-looking pores are the primary concerns and you prefer a liquid treatment without pre-cut pads.

  • Choose Exfoliating Cleansing Gel when you want salicylic and lactic acids in a rinse-off cleanser with shorter skin contact.

  • Choose A&E Corrector for precise application to an individual visible blemish.

Most clients need one primary leave-on exfoliant. Skin Clarifying Pad, Perfect Renewal, Beta Acid and 5% Glyco Polymer Solution should not all be layered into the same routine.

Acids and Enzymes

Skin Clarifying Pad uses several exfoliating pathways.

Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid with oil-soluble properties. It is commonly selected for excess oil, blackheads and clogged-looking pores.

Lactic and tartaric acids are alpha hydroxy acids that primarily exfoliate the skin’s surface, helping refine rough texture and improve visible radiance.

Papain is an enzyme derived from papaya. Rather than functioning as an acid, it helps break down proteins that hold dead surface cells together.

Combining these ingredients can provide broad exfoliating benefits, but a more complex formula does not need to be used more frequently. Consistent, measured use is preferable to aggressive daily exfoliation.

Ingredients
  • Lactic Acid: Helps smooth rough texture and improve the appearance of uneven tone.
  • Salicylic Acid: Targets oily buildup and congested-looking pores.
  • Tartaric Acid: Supports surface exfoliation and visible refinement.
  • Papain: Provides papaya-derived enzymatic exfoliation.
  • Glucosamine HCl: Conditions the skin and supports a smoother-looking surface.
  • Aloe Vera Leaf Extract: Helps soothe and hydrate.
  • Allantoin: Conditions and comforts the complexion.
  • Witch Hazel Leaf Extract: Provides toning and astringent benefits.
  • Dipotassium Glycyrrhizinate: A licorice-root derivative that helps comfort the skin and support an even-looking complexion.
  • Grape Seed Extract: Provides antioxidant support.
  • Arnica Extract: Helps condition the skin.
  • Enteromorpha Compressa Extract: A marine algae extract that provides skin-conditioning benefits.
  • SD Alcohol 40: Creates the formula’s fast-drying finish.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Skin Clarifying Pad be used every day?

Le Mieux describes the formula as suitable for daily or weekly exfoliation, but daily use will not suit every complexion. Loshen & Crem recommends beginning once or twice weekly and increasing only if the skin remains comfortable.

Is it suitable for sensitive skin?

It may be too intensive for highly sensitive or barrier-impaired skin. The formula combines several acids, papain, witch hazel and SD Alcohol 40. Perfect Renewal may be the more measured option for some sensitive clients, provided they do not have a nut allergy.

What is the difference between Skin Clarifying Pad and Perfect Renewal?

Skin Clarifying Pad combines salicylic, lactic and tartaric acids with papaya enzymes and alcohol. It is primarily suited to oily, congested and more resilient skin.

Perfect Renewal uses 10% mandelic acid in an alcohol-free formula with hydrating and brightening ingredients. It is generally the more gradual option for uneven tone, texture and post-blemish marks.

What is the difference between Skin Clarifying Pad and Beta Acid?

Both contain salicylic and lactic acids. Skin Clarifying Pad also contains tartaric acid and papain and comes as a pour-to-saturate pad system. Beta Acid is a simpler liquid treatment applied with a separate cotton pad.

Do I rinse the solution off?

No. Skin Clarifying Pad is a leave-on treatment. Allow the solution to absorb before applying serum and moisturizer.

Will it help with blackheads?

Salicylic acid can help loosen the oil and dead-cell buildup associated with blackheads and clogged-looking pores. Results depend on consistent use and the type and severity of the congestion.

Can it help with acne scars?

It may improve the appearance of flat post-blemish discoloration and mild surface irregularity. It will not remove indented, raised or structural acne scars.

Can it cause purging?

Exfoliating ingredients can sometimes bring existing congestion to the surface more quickly. Persistent burning, itching, pronounced redness or breakouts in completely new areas may indicate irritation rather than purging.

Can I use it with retinol?

Use Skin Clarifying Pad and retinol on separate evenings, particularly when beginning. Combining them in one routine may increase dryness, peeling and sensitivity.

Can I combine it with benzoyl peroxide?

The combination may be overly drying. Alternate applications initially unless a dermatologist or skincare professional has recommended a different schedule.

Can I use it with Exfoliating Cleansing Gel?

Using both together may provide more exfoliation than the skin needs. Begin with a gentle cleanser and introduce additional exfoliating products cautiously.

What should I do if the pads sting?

A mild, brief tingling sensation may occur. Persistent burning, marked redness or discomfort is not a better result. Rinse the skin, discontinue use and focus on soothing hydration.

Can I apply it to a freshly picked blemish?

No. Avoid broken, bleeding or freshly manipulated skin. Allow the area to close and calm before applying an exfoliating treatment.

Does it contain alcohol?

Yes. SD Alcohol 40 is fourth on the published ingredient list. It contributes to the quick-drying texture but may increase dryness or sensitivity for some clients.

Is it fragrance-free?

No parfum or added fragrance is listed in the published INCI. However, the formula contains multiple botanical extracts and alcohol, so individual sensitivity may still vary.

Can I use it if I am allergic to papaya?

No. The formula contains papain, an enzyme derived from papaya. Anyone with a known papaya allergy should avoid the product or consult an allergist before use.

Can Skin Clarifying Pad be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

The formula contains salicylic acid and several exfoliating acids. Consult your physician or qualified healthcare provider before using it during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Can I use it if I have an aspirin or salicylate allergy?

Skin Clarifying Pad contains salicylic acid. Anyone with a known aspirin or salicylate allergy should avoid it unless a physician has confirmed that topical use is appropriate.

How should I store the pads after adding the solution?

Keep the jar tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Secure the lid after every use to prevent the pads from drying out.

Is sunscreen necessary?

Yes. Regular broad-spectrum sunscreen is essential when using exfoliating acids, especially when treating post-blemish marks or uneven tone.
