Why It Is Different

The Element Eight Gua Sha is crafted from professional-grade stainless steel rather than traditional jade, quartz or resin.

Its smooth, non-porous surface is naturally cooling, resistant to absorbing skincare and easier to clean thoroughly. The weight of the metal also provides controlled pressure without requiring force from the hand.

Unlike delicate stone tools, stainless steel is less likely to chip or shatter during everyday use. It also retains a cooling sensation beautifully, making it especially satisfying for morning puffiness.

Element Eight positions the tool as a complement to its oxygen-infused skincare system. The massage supports microcirculation and even product distribution, while OATH™ remains the technology within the skincare formulas themselves.

How It Works

The Element Eight Stainless Steel Gua Sha works through gentle, directional facial massage.

  • Light pressure and outward strokes encourage superficial circulation, helping the complexion appear refreshed.
  • Gentle drainage movements may help shift temporary fluid accumulation and reduce visible puffiness.
  • The tool’s weight helps release muscular tension through areas such as the jaw, cheeks and brow.
  • Its cooling surface provides an immediate soothing sensation and may temporarily improve the appearance of swelling.
  • Smooth edges help distribute skincare evenly while reducing unnecessary pulling from the fingers.
  • Consistent massage can support a more relaxed and visibly refined appearance.

Gua sha does not permanently change facial structure, remove fat or make the skin permeable. Its value lies in thoughtful massage, temporary depuffing, tension release and the ritual surrounding consistent skincare.

How to Use
  1. Begin with a freshly cleansed face and a clean, dry tool.
  2. Apply an essence, serum or moisturizer that provides sufficient slip. The tool should glide without pulling the skin.
  3. Hold the gua sha almost flat against the complexion rather than pressing its edge directly downward.
  4. Use slow, one-directional strokes. Do not scrub back and forth.
  5. Repeat each movement five to seven times before moving to the next area.
  6. Use light-to-medium pressure across the jaw and cheeks and extremely light pressure around the eyes.
  7. The massage should feel comfortable and never painful.
  8. Clean the tool with mild soap and lukewarm water after every use, then dry it thoroughly.

Complete Element Eight Gua Sha Ritual

  1. Cleanse the face and neck, then gently pat the skin dry.
  2. Mist O₂ Exosome Eight Active Essence over the complexion.
  3. Apply O₂ Niacinamide Eight Active Serum to the face and neck.
  4. If the serum absorbs before the massage begins, apply a small amount of your chosen Element Eight moisturizer to maintain comfortable glide.
  5. Begin at the sides of the neck, using gentle strokes toward the collarbone.
  6. Glide from the centre of the chin along the jawline toward the ear.
  7. Sweep from beside the nose across the cheeks toward the temples.
  8. Apply O₂ Caffeine Eight Active Eye Cream, then use extremely light pressure from the inner under-eye toward the temple.
  9. Move from between the brows upward toward the hairline, then from the centre of the forehead outward.
  10. Finish with the Element Eight moisturizer best suited to your skin if it was not applied before massage.
  11. Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning.
  12. Wash and dry the tool before storing it.
Loshen & Crem’s Recommendation

The most effective gua sha technique is not the most aggressive one.

Use enough skincare to create glide, hold the tool almost flat and move slowly. Heavy pressure does not create better drainage or more permanent definition—it simply increases the likelihood of irritation and bruising.

For morning puffiness, focus on gentle outward movements across the face, followed by downward strokes along the sides of the neck toward the collarbone. For facial tension, spend additional time along the jaw and brow without grinding the tool into the skin.

Three to five thoughtful minutes is enough. The purpose is not to force the face into a different shape. It is to support circulation, reduce temporary fluid accumulation and help the muscles feel more relaxed.

Technique will always matter more than speed, pressure or the number of strokes.

The Difference Between Facial Sculpting and Lymphatic Drainage
  • Facial sculpting and lymphatic drainage are often used interchangeably, but they describe different intentions.
  • Lymphatic drainage uses extremely light, slow movements to encourage fluid toward natural drainage pathways.
  • Facial sculpting refers to the temporary visual definition created when puffiness is reduced and muscular tension is released.
  • Neither technique permanently changes bone structure, fat placement or facial anatomy.
  • Lymphatic work should never require deep pressure because lymphatic vessels sit close to the skin’s surface.
  • More pressure does not create more drainage.
  • A refined gua sha ritual may combine both approaches: light drainage for puffiness and controlled massage for areas of tension.
  • The most believable result is a face that looks rested, less puffy and more at ease—not permanently reshaped.
