Pigmentation Cream for Dark Spots, Post-Blemish Marks and Uneven Skin Tone

Dermaceutic Mela Cream is an intensive evening pigmentation cream formulated to improve the appearance of dark spots, post-blemish marks, melasma-related pigmentation and uneven skin tone.

Its advanced formula combines nine targeted active ingredients, including niacinamide, arbutin, kojic acid, retinol, mandelic acid, salicylic acid, phytic acid and licorice extract.

These complementary ingredients work at multiple stages of the pigmentation process to help regulate excess melanin production, limit melanin transfer and support skin renewal. With consistent use, the complexion appears brighter, smoother and more even.

Mela Cream may be used as part of a targeted homecare routine or to help support and prolong the visible results of a professional Dermaceutic Mela Peel treatment.

Best For

Dermaceutic Mela Cream is especially suitable for skin experiencing:

  • Dark spots and visible sun damage
  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
  • Brown marks left behind after blemishes
  • Melasma-related pigmentation
  • Uneven or irregular-looking skin tone
  • Dullness and loss of radiance
  • Rough or uneven skin texture
  • Visible signs of photoaging
  • Skin accustomed to retinol and exfoliating acids
How It Works

Mela Cream combines targeted pigmentation-correcting ingredients with exfoliating acids and retinol.

  • Niacinamide helps reduce the transfer of melanin to the skin’s surface while supporting a more even-looking complexion and helping diminish visible redness.
  • Arbutin, kojic acid and undecylenoyl phenylalanine help regulate the processes involved in melanin production. These ingredients support the gradual improvement of visible dark spots and pigmentation irregularities.
  • Mandelic acid and salicylic acid exfoliate accumulated surface cells and help improve uneven skin texture. This exfoliating action also helps remove pigmented cells from the skin’s surface.
  • Retinol supports natural skin renewal and helps improve the appearance of fine lines, photoaging and uneven texture.
  • Phytic acid, licorice extract and vitamin E provide complementary brightening, soothing and antioxidant benefits.
Clinical Results

In an in vivo study conducted over 21 days:

  • 100% agreed that their complexion appeared more luminous
  • 92% agreed that Mela Cream reduced the appearance of pigment imperfections
  • 92% agreed that their complexion appeared more unified

The study was conducted on 12 women between 39 and 67 years old by an independent European research organization. Individual results may vary.

How to Use
  1. Apply once daily in the evening to clean, completely dry skin.
  2. Distribute a small amount over the full face, concentrating additional product on areas of uneven pigmentation.
  3. Avoid the eye contour, eyelids, lips and mucous membranes.
  4. If you have not previously used retinol, begin two evenings per week. Gradually increase the frequency according to skin tolerance.
  5. A three-month treatment protocol is recommended.
  6. Allow Mela Cream to absorb before applying a moisturizer when additional hydration or comfort is needed.

Temporary tingling, mild redness or light flaking may occur. Reduce the frequency if discomfort develops.

  • Do not apply to sensitive, very dry, irritated or broken skin.
  • Avoid using Mela Cream in the same evening routine as additional retinol products, intensive exfoliating acids or resurfacing treatments unless recommended by a skincare professional.
  • Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 50 every morning and avoid unprotected sun exposure.
  • Do not use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
  • Mela Cream contains vitamin A. Consider your total daily vitamin A exposure before use.
Loshen & Crem’s Recommendation

Dermaceutic Mela Cream is best suited to clients experiencing widespread or recurring uneven pigmentation rather than one isolated dark spot.

For a single, localized spot, Dermaceutic Yellow Cream may offer a more targeted application. Mela Cream is applied across the full face to support a more even-looking complexion overall.

Because the formula combines retinol with mandelic and salicylic acids, begin gradually—even if your skin has previously tolerated active skincare.

Keep the remainder of the evening routine simple. Follow with a gentle, barrier-supporting moisturizer and avoid adding exfoliating toners, scrubs or additional retinol.

Clients with dry, sensitive or compromised skin should restore their skin barrier before introducing Mela Cream.

Pigmentation requires consistency and patience. Daily sunscreen is essential, as UV exposure can darken existing spots and contribute to recurring pigmentation.

Persistent, irregular or rapidly changing spots should be assessed by a qualified healthcare professional before beginning a cosmetic pigmentation routine.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Dermaceutic Mela Cream used for?

Mela Cream is an intensive evening cream designed to improve the appearance of dark spots, post-blemish pigmentation, uneven skin tone and melasma-related pigmentation.

Should Mela Cream be applied to the full face?

Yes. Mela Cream is designed to be applied across the full face, with additional attention given to areas of visible pigmentation.

For one isolated dark spot, a targeted product such as Dermaceutic Yellow Cream may be more appropriate.

Can Mela Cream help with melasma?

Mela Cream is formulated to improve the appearance of melasma-related pigmentation and uneven skin tone. Melasma is complex and may require a professionally developed skincare and treatment plan.

Can Mela Cream help with post-acne marks?

Yes. It can help improve the appearance of brown post-blemish marks. It will not correct raised, indented or textural acne scars.

Does Mela Cream contain retinol?

Yes. Mela Cream contains retinol to support skin renewal and improve the appearance of uneven pigmentation, fine lines and skin texture.

How often should I use Mela Cream?

Apply it once daily in the evening.

Those new to retinol should begin two evenings per week and gradually increase the frequency according to skin tolerance.

How long should I use Mela Cream?

Dermaceutic recommends a three-month treatment protocol. Pigmentation results develop gradually and depend on the type, depth and cause of the discolouration.

Is tingling or flaking normal?

Temporary tingling, mild redness or light flaking may occur because Mela Cream contains retinol and exfoliating acids.

Reduce the frequency if discomfort develops. Discontinue use if irritation persists.

Can I use Mela Cream with Activ Retinol?

Avoid applying Mela Cream and Activ Retinol in the same routine. Mela Cream already contains retinol, and combining both products may increase sensitivity.

Can I use Mela Cream with glycolic acid?

Avoid layering Mela Cream with glycolic acid or other intensive exfoliating treatments in the same evening routine unless recommended by a skincare professional.

Can I use Mela Cream around my eyes?

No. Avoid the eye contour, eyelids and the area immediately beneath the eyes.

Is Mela Cream suitable for sensitive skin?

Dermaceutic does not recommend Mela Cream for sensitive or very dry skin. The formula combines retinol with exfoliating acids and may be too intensive for a compromised skin barrier.

Do I need sunscreen while using Mela Cream?

Yes. Apply a broad-spectrum SPF 50 every morning and reapply as needed. UV exposure can intensify existing pigmentation and contribute to the development of new dark spots.

Can Mela Cream be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

No. Dermaceutic does not recommend Mela Cream during pregnancy or breastfeeding because it contains retinol.

Why can Mela Cream change colour?

Retinol is sensitive to heat, oxygen and light. When combined with the formula’s other active ingredients, natural oxidation may cause the cream to change from a pale yellow shade to brown over time.

Dermaceutic uses opaque airless packaging to help limit exposure to environmental factors.
