A cooling multi-clay mask for absorbing excess oil and refining congested-looking skin

Le Mieux Icy Revitalizing Mask is a creamy clay treatment formulated to reduce surface oil, lift visible buildup and leave oily or blemish-prone skin feeling clean, smooth and refreshed. Its multi-clay base combines montmorillonite, kaolin, bentonite and illite to create a temporary mattifying effect without relying on physical exfoliating particles.

Aloe, beta-glucan, panthenol, allantoin and botanical extracts complement the clays with hydrating and conditioning benefits. Sacha inchi, rice bran, macadamia and safflower oils help soften the formula’s finish so the skin feels velvety rather than aggressively stripped.

Menthol and peppermint extract create the mask’s distinctive cooling sensation. While refreshing for resilient oily skin, these ingredients may not suit highly sensitive, rosacea-prone or barrier-impaired complexions.

Benefits
  • Absorbs excess surface oil and reduces visible shine
  • Helps lift buildup associated with congested-looking pores
  • Leaves blemish-prone skin feeling clean and refreshed
  • Temporarily improves the appearance of enlarged pores
  • Smooths rough or uneven-looking surface texture
  • Creates a fresh, matte and velvety finish
  • Provides a cooling sensation through menthol and peppermint extract
  • Includes hydrating ingredients to support skin comfort
  • Can be applied across the face or used selectively on an oily T-zone
  • Provides antioxidant support through green tea and botanical extracts
Best For

Icy Revitalizing Mask is particularly well suited to:

  • Oily or combination skin
  • Excess shine
  • Congested-looking pores
  • Blackheads and visible surface buildup
  • Blemish-prone skin
  • Rough or irregular-looking texture
  • Skin that feels heavy or slick
  • Humid-weather skincare routines
  • Resilient skin that enjoys a cooling sensation
  • Targeted multi-masking across the T-zone

This mask may not be appropriate for very dry, highly sensitive, rosacea-prone or significantly barrier-impaired skin. The menthol and peppermint extract can feel intense on reactive skin, even though the formula also contains soothing and conditioning ingredients.

Why It Is Different

Icy Revitalizing Mask pairs four types of clay with hydrating botanicals and lightweight plant oils. This creates a creamier, more conditioned finish than a basic clay-and-water mask.

The formula helps absorb excess surface oil without using abrasive grains or exfoliating acids. Its cooling sensation comes from menthol and peppermint extract rather than from refrigeration or a temperature-changing technology.

  • Montmorillonite: A mineral clay that helps absorb excess surface oil and impurities.
  • Kaolin: A comparatively gentle clay that supports oil absorption and a smoother-looking complexion.
  • Bentonite: Helps bind excess oil and lift visible surface buildup.
  • Illite: A mineral-rich clay that contributes to the mask’s purifying and mattifying effect.
  • Aloe Vera: Helps hydrate and condition the skin.
  • Beta-Glucan: Supports moisture and skin comfort.
  • Green Tea Extract: Provides antioxidant and skin-conditioning benefits.
  • Panthenol and Allantoin: Help soften and comfort the skin.
  • Sacha Inchi and Botanical Oils: Provide lightweight emollient support to balance the clay base.
  • Menthol and Peppermint Extract: Create an immediate cooling and refreshing sensation.
How to Use

Use one to two times weekly after cleansing.

Apply a thin, even layer over the face and neck, avoiding the eyes, lips and broken skin. For combination skin, concentrate the mask across the forehead, nose and chin rather than applying it to dry areas.

Leave on for 15 to 20 minutes. Do not wait until the mask becomes uncomfortably tight or begins cracking heavily.

Soften the mask with lukewarm water, then remove gently with a wet sponge or soft towel. Do not scrub. Pat the skin dry and follow with a hydrating serum and lightweight moisturizer.

Rinse immediately if the cooling sensation develops into persistent burning, itching or discomfort.

Loshen & Crem’s Recommendation

Icy Revitalizing Mask works beautifully as a strategic T-zone treatment. If your forehead and nose become shiny but your cheeks feel dry, there is no prize for masking the entire face. Apply it only where oil and visible congestion are present.

Use it after a gentle cleanser rather than an exfoliating cleanser. Pairing clay, menthol and several exfoliating acids in one evening can leave the skin feeling unnecessarily tight and reactive.

We also recommend removing the mask before it becomes completely dry and cracked. Clay continues absorbing oil as it dries, but an extremely tight mask is not evidence of deeper cleansing—it is often simply evidence that the mask has been left on too long.

The cooling effect should feel fresh, not heroic. If your skin is persistently red, burning or sensitive, rinse immediately and choose a more comforting treatment such as Lavender Floral Mask or a fragrance-free moisturizer.

Complete the Le Mieux Clarifying Mask Routine
  1. Cleanse: Phyto-Nutrient Cleansing Gel
  2. Mask: Apply Icy Revitalizing Mask for 15 to 20 minutes
  3. Mist: Refresh with Iso-Cell Recovery Solution after removal
  4. Hydrate: Apply Hyaluronic Serum
  5. Moisturize: Finish with Sheer Hydration or another lightweight moisturizer
  6. Protect: Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning

On mask evenings, skip physical scrubs, Beta Acid, Perfect Renewal, 5% Glyco Polymer Solution and other intensive exfoliating treatments if the skin is already feeling dry or sensitive.

Icy Revitalizing, Lavender Floral or Hyaluronic Shea Mask?

Each Le Mieux mask is designed for a different skin condition and texture preference.

  • Choose Icy Revitalizing Mask for excess oil, visible shine and congested-looking pores. Its multi-clay formula absorbs oil and creates a cooling, temporarily mattified finish.
  • Choose Lavender Floral Mask for lightweight gel hydration and skin that feels warm or temporarily uncomfortable. It contains lavender flower water, aloe, hyaluronic acid and botanical extracts.
  • Choose Hyaluronic Shea Mask for dry, rough or flaky-looking skin. Its rich cream formula contains shea butter, squalane and nourishing botanical oils and may be left on overnight.
  • Multi-mask when necessary: Apply Icy Revitalizing Mask to an oily T-zone and Hyaluronic Shea Mask to dry cheeks or other depleted areas.

Skin type is not always uniform across the face. The best mask is the one chosen for the skin’s present condition—not simply the label applied to it years ago.

Clay Masks, Pores and “Detox”

Clay can absorb surface oil and bind some of the debris sitting on the skin. This may make congested pores look cleaner and enlarged pores appear temporarily more refined.

Clay does not pull environmental toxins from the body, and pores do not open and close like doors. The skin’s detoxification language is largely marketing shorthand for oil absorption and surface cleansing.

Icy Revitalizing Mask can support a clearer-looking complexion, but it cannot permanently shrink pores or remove deep, hardened congestion in one application. Consistent cleansing, appropriate exfoliation, hydration and sun protection remain more important than an occasional dramatic “detox.”

Frequently Asked Questions

How often should I use Icy Revitalizing Mask?

Begin once weekly. Oily, resilient skin may increase to twice weekly if the skin remains comfortable. More frequent use is not necessarily more effective and may contribute to dehydration.

Is the mask suitable for oily skin?

Yes. Its multi-clay formula is designed to absorb excess surface oil and reduce visible shine. Follow with a lightweight hydrating serum and moisturizer rather than leaving the skin bare after removal.

Can combination skin use it?

Yes. Apply it selectively across the forehead, nose and chin while avoiding dry cheeks. Multi-masking is often more appropriate than applying one treatment everywhere.

Is it suitable for sensitive or rosacea-prone skin?

It may not be the best choice. Menthol, peppermint extract, arnica and sage can feel intense on reactive or redness-prone skin. Patch test carefully or choose a gentler mask without a strong cooling sensation.

Does it unclog pores?

The clays help absorb surface oil and lift visible buildup, which can make pores look cleaner. The mask cannot instantly remove every blackhead or hardened plug.

Will it permanently shrink my pores?

No. Pore size is influenced by genetics, oil production, age and skin structure. Oil absorption can make pores appear temporarily more refined, but a mask cannot permanently close or shrink them.

Does it remove toxins from the skin?

No cosmetic clay mask removes toxins from the body. In skincare, “detoxifying” usually refers to absorbing excess oil and cleansing visible surface buildup.

Can it treat acne?

No. It may support a clearer-looking complexion by reducing excess surface oil, but it is not an acne medication. Persistent, painful or cystic breakouts should be assessed by a dermatologist.

Can I use it as a spot treatment?

Yes. Apply a small amount to an oily or congested-looking area and remove it after 15 to 20 minutes. Avoid applying it to picked, bleeding or openly irritated blemishes.

Is the cooling sensation normal?

A fresh, cooling sensation is expected because the formula contains menthol and peppermint extract. Persistent burning, pronounced redness, itching or pain is not normal; remove the mask immediately if this occurs.

Should I let the mask dry completely?

No. Remove it after 15 to 20 minutes or sooner if it becomes uncomfortably tight. Allowing a clay mask to crack heavily does not create a deeper cleanse.

Can I use it with Beta Acid or exfoliating acids?

Avoid combining several oil-controlling or exfoliating treatments in the same evening, particularly if your skin becomes dehydrated easily. Alternate Icy Revitalizing Mask with Beta Acid, Perfect Renewal or 5% Glyco Polymer Solution.

Can I use it with retinol?

Use the mask and retinol on separate evenings when beginning. Menthol and clay may increase discomfort if the skin is already dry or sensitized by a retinoid.

Is Icy Revitalizing Mask fragrance-free?

No parfum or essential oil is listed, but peppermint extract and menthol give the product a noticeable aroma and cooling sensation. Fragrance-reactive skin should patch test carefully.

Can I leave it on overnight?

No. This is a rinse-off clay mask. Remove it after 15 to 20 minutes and follow with hydration.

Is it suitable for nut allergies?

The formula contains macadamia seed oil. Those with nut allergies should consult their allergist or qualified healthcare provider and review the product packaging before use.

Do the zinc oxide and titanium dioxide provide sun protection?

No. Although the formula may contain these mineral ingredients, Icy Revitalizing Mask is not a sunscreen and does not provide labelled SPF protection.

Can Icy Revitalizing Mask be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?

The published formula does not list retinoids or salicylic acid, but it contains menthol and multiple botanical extracts. Consult your physician or qualified healthcare provider if you have concerns about introducing it during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
