What Picão Preto Bio-Retinol Means

The term “bio-retinol” can be confusing. Dream does not contain retinol, retinal, retinoic acid or another vitamin A derivative.

Its featured ingredient is Bidens pilosa extract, also known as Picão Preto—a botanical native to South America that is used in cosmetic formulas intended to support smoother, more even-looking skin.

Unlike retinol, Bidens pilosa does not need to convert into retinoic acid within the skin. “Bio-retinol” describes its intended cosmetic role rather than its chemical identity, and it should not be considered interchangeable with a traditional retinoid.
