A ceramide and botanical oil serum for dry, depleted and sensitized-looking skin
Le Mieux Derma Relief Serum is an award-winning, oil-based facial serum formulated to replenish essential lipids and comfort skin affected by severe dryness, flaking and visible irritation. Its concentrated blend combines squalane with argan, sacha inchi, oat, bacaba, kukui, macadamia, rice bran, açai and other nutrient-rich botanical oils.
Ceramides AP and NP, glycolipids and phytosterols complement these emollient oils by supporting the skin’s moisture barrier. The formula helps soften rough texture, reduce moisture loss and restore a smoother, more supple appearance without relying on exfoliating acids or retinoids.
Because this is a lipid-rich oil serum rather than a water-based hydrating serum, it is especially effective when layered over a hydrating serum and moisturizer to help seal in moisture.
Benefits
- Replenishes essential lipids in dry and depleted skin
- Helps support and maintain the skin’s moisture barrier
- Softens visibly rough, flaky or tight-feeling skin
- Reduces moisture loss for longer-lasting comfort
- Helps calm the appearance of redness associated with dryness
- Improves visible suppleness and smoothness
- Conditions mature or environmentally stressed skin
- Adds a soft, healthy-looking glow
- Contains no exfoliating acids or retinoids
- Can be mixed with moisturizer or non-SPF foundation for additional slip
Best For
Derma Relief Serum is particularly well suited to:
- Dry or very dry skin
- Rough, flaky or tight-feeling skin
- Lipid-depleted or compromised-looking skin
- Mature skin experiencing reduced suppleness
- Skin exposed to cold, wind or dry indoor heating
- Normal-to-dry skin requiring additional barrier support
- Skin recovering from an overly aggressive routine once it is no longer broken or acutely irritated
- Clients who need a richer final step over their moisturizer
This concentrated oil may feel too rich for very oily or congestion-prone complexions. Those with a history of clogged pores should begin with one or two drops and patch test before applying it over the entire face.
The formula contains multiple nut and seed-derived oils, including Brazil nut, kukui and macadamia oils. Anyone with a severe tree-nut allergy should consult an allergist or healthcare professional before use.
Why It Is Different
Derma Relief Serum is not a conventional water-based hydrating serum. It is a concentrated blend of botanical oils, squalane, ceramides, glycolipids and phytosterols designed to supply the lipid portion of a barrier-supportive routine.
It does not contain water-based humectants such as hyaluronic acid. Instead, it softens the skin and helps reduce the loss of moisture already present. For skin that is both dry and dehydrated, Loshen & Crem recommends applying a water-based hydrating serum first, followed by moisturizer and Derma Relief Serum as the final sealing step.
- Ceramides AP and NP: Help support the lipid structure of the skin’s natural moisture barrier.
- Squalane: Provides lightweight emollience while helping reduce moisture loss.
- Argan Oil: Conditions dry skin and supplies naturally occurring fatty acids and antioxidants.
- Sacha Inchi Oil: Rich in essential fatty acids that help soften and nourish depleted skin.
- Oat Kernel Oil: Helps comfort dry, sensitive-feeling skin while supporting softness.
- Bacaba, Kukui and Macadamia Oils: Provide replenishing emollients for improved suppleness.
- Glycolipids and Phytosterols: Complement the skin’s natural lipid components and support barrier comfort.
- Tocotrienols and Tocopherol: Forms of vitamin E that provide antioxidant and conditioning benefits.
How to Use
Use in the morning, evening or whenever additional nourishment is needed.
After cleansing and applying water-based toners or serums, warm three to five drops between the fingertips. Gently press onto the face and neck, concentrating on areas affected by dryness or flaking.
For a complete layered routine:
- Apply toner or hydrating mist.
- Apply water-based treatment serums.
- Follow with moisturizer.
- Press Derma Relief Serum over the moisturizer to help seal in hydration.
- Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning.
Because the formula is concentrated, two or three drops may be sufficient when first introducing it. Increase the amount only if the skin requires additional richness.
Derma Relief Serum may also be mixed with moisturizer. Le Mieux suggests mixing it with foundation for greater slip and radiance; use only a small drop and do not mix it into sunscreen or an SPF foundation being relied upon for sun protection.
Loshen & Crem’s Recommendation
Derma Relief Serum is one of our preferred finishing oils for clients whose skin feels dry no matter how much moisturizer they apply. This often indicates that the routine needs additional lipids—not simply another layer of water-based hydration.
For dry Canadian winters or climates with low humidity, apply Hyaluronic Serum first, follow with Essence Moisturizer or 24 Hr. Age Defying Cream and finish with one or two drops of Derma Relief Serum. This combination provides water-based hydration, moisturizing emollients and a final lipid layer to help reduce moisture loss.
More is not necessarily better. Begin with two or three drops, press the serum into the skin and allow it to settle before adding more. Using too much can leave the complexion feeling greasy without improving results.
If your skin is burning, persistently red or irritated after excessive exfoliation, pause acids, retinoids and scrubs. A simplified hydrating routine may be helpful, but Derma Relief Serum should not be used to mask continuing discomfort or replace treatment for eczema, dermatitis, rosacea or another medical condition.
Anyone with a severe allergy to tree nuts should obtain professional medical guidance before using this formula.
Complete the Le Mieux Dry-Skin Recovery Routine
- Cleanse: Peptide Foam Cleanser or Phyto-Nutrient Cleansing Gel
- Hydrate: Iso-Cell Recovery Solution
- Treat Dehydration: Hyaluronic Serum
- Moisturize: Essence Moisturizer or 24 Hr. Age Defying Cream
- Seal: Derma Relief Serum
- Protect: Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning
Derma Relief Serum, Hyaluronic Serum or O² Calming Gel?
Choose the formula according to what your skin is missing:
- Derma Relief Serum: Best when skin lacks oil and feels rough, flaky or depleted. It supplies emollient lipids and helps reduce moisture loss.
- Hyaluronic Serum: Best when skin lacks water and feels tight or dehydrated but does not necessarily need additional richness.
- O² Calming Gel: Best when skin needs lightweight hydration and relief from visible redness or sensitivity without an oil texture.
Dry and dehydrated skin can use more than one. Apply Hyaluronic Serum first, follow with moisturizer and finish with Derma Relief Serum.
Dry Skin, Dehydrated Skin and a Compromised Barrier
Dry skin and dehydrated skin are related but are not identical.
Dry skin is generally lacking oil or lipids. It may feel rough, flaky or less supple and often benefits from emollient oils, ceramides and richer moisturizers.
Dehydrated skin lacks water. It can occur in any skin type—including oily skin—and may appear tight, dull or lined. Humectant serums containing ingredients such as hyaluronic acid are generally more appropriate for this concern.
A disrupted moisture barrier may produce a combination of dryness, dehydration, visible redness and sensitivity. Derma Relief Serum supplies oils and supportive lipids, but it does not add water to the skin and is not a treatment for a diagnosed inflammatory skin condition.
Why Ceramides and Lipids Matter
The outer layer of the skin contains cells surrounded by a lipid mixture that includes ceramides, cholesterol-related compounds and fatty acids. These lipids help limit excessive water loss and protect the skin from external stressors.
Derma Relief Serum combines ceramides with squalane, botanical oils, glycolipids and phytosterols to support a softer, more resilient-feeling surface. However, the exact lipid ratio has not been disclosed, so the formula should not be described as identical to the skin’s natural barrier or as clinically proven to repair a medical barrier disorder.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Derma Relief Serum a serum or a facial oil?
It is an oil-based serum. Unlike a conventional water-based serum, its formula is composed primarily of botanical oils, squalane and barrier-supportive lipids.
Does it hydrate the skin?
Derma Relief Serum conditions the skin and helps reduce moisture loss, but it does not supply water-based hydration. If your skin is dehydrated, apply Hyaluronic Serum or another humectant serum first and use Derma Relief Serum as the final sealing step.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
It may be helpful for dry, sensitive-feeling skin, but botanical ingredients can still cause individual reactions. Patch test before full application, particularly if your skin is highly reactive.
Is Derma Relief Serum fragrance-free?
No added parfum or fragrance is listed in the current ingredient list. However, the formula contains numerous botanical oils, including copaiba resin oil, which may give it a natural aroma.
Can someone with a tree-nut allergy use it?
The formula contains several nut-derived ingredients, including Brazil nut, kukui and macadamia oils. Those with a severe tree-nut allergy should consult an allergist or qualified healthcare professional before use. Loshen & Crem would not recommend experimenting with the product without medical clearance in cases of severe allergy.
Is it suitable for oily or blemish-prone skin?
It may be too rich for some oily or congestion-prone complexions. Begin with one drop and patch test carefully. Derma Relief Serum is not an acne treatment, and no guarantee can be made that it will not clog pores for a particular individual.
Can it be used for eczema, dermatitis or rosacea?
Derma Relief Serum is a cosmetic facial oil and is not a treatment for eczema, dermatitis, rosacea or another medical condition. Consult a physician or dermatologist if redness, itching, burning, cracking or inflammation is persistent or severe.
Can I use it after over-exfoliating?
It may help replenish lipids once the skin is intact, but discontinue exfoliating acids, retinoids and scrubs while the skin recovers. Do not apply it to broken or weeping skin. Persistent burning or swelling requires professional medical advice.
Should it be applied before or after moisturizer?
For most dry skin, apply water-based products first, moisturizer next and Derma Relief Serum last. The oil helps seal in the hydration and moisture supplied by the earlier layers. It may also be mixed directly with moisturizer.
Can I use it with Hyaluronic Serum?
Yes. This is one of our preferred combinations for skin that is both dry and dehydrated. Apply Hyaluronic Serum to slightly damp skin, follow with moisturizer and finish with one or two drops of Derma Relief Serum.
Can it be used with retinol or exfoliating acids?
It can generally be used in the same routine to provide additional emollience. However, if acids or retinoids are causing burning, peeling or persistent irritation, stop the active product rather than relying on the oil to compensate.
Can it be mixed with foundation?
Yes. Mix one small drop with a non-SPF liquid foundation on the back of your hand for additional slip and luminosity. Do not mix it into sunscreen or an SPF foundation you rely on for protection, as doing so may interfere with the even protective film.
Can it be used morning and night?
Yes. Apply it morning and night according to your skin’s needs. Combination skin may prefer using it only in the evening or limiting application to dry areas.
How much should I apply?
Le Mieux recommends three to five drops. Loshen & Crem suggests beginning with two or three drops because the formula is concentrated. Add more only when necessary.
Can it be used around the eyes?
It is not specifically presented as an eye treatment. Keep it out of the eyes and use a dedicated eye-area product if you are prone to sensitivity or milia.
Is it suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
The current ingredient list does not include a retinoid or exfoliating acid. However, pregnancy-specific safety data for the complete formula are not provided. Consult your physician or qualified healthcare provider before introducing it during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Can it be used immediately after a professional procedure?
Only with approval from the professional who performed the treatment. The product is not sterile and should not be applied to broken skin or used as a substitute for prescribed post-procedure care.
