A few things worth knowing.
Does a higher wavelength mean a stronger treatment?
No. Wavelength describes the light. Irradiance describes how much light power reaches an area of skin; exposure time also shapes the dose. Compare the complete device and its tested routine.
Can I leave it on longer to get more benefit?
Follow the model’s timer and frequency. More light is not automatically more useful; photobiomodulation responses depend on dose. Do not extend a session or stack treatments to chase faster results.
Do I need to feel heat for it to work?
Heat is not a measure of LED effectiveness. Some hybrid devices add heating or radiofrequency as separate functions; those have their own instructions.
Can I use my usual serum underneath?
It depends on the model. Some routines begin on clean, dry skin; others require a particular mask, serum or conductive primer. Follow the device-specific ritual below.

Omnilux Men Face is a flexible silicone LED mask that combines red (633 nm), near-infrared (830 nm) and deep near-infrared (1072 nm) light. Men’s skin tends to be thicker, so the extra deep near-infrared wavelength is included to suit it. Used consistently, it helps soften the look of fine lines, refresh a tired-looking complexion and calm the look of redness, including after shaving.

How to Use
Use 3 to 5 times per week for 4 to 6 weeks, then continue with maintenance sessions as desired. No more than one 10-minute session per day.

- Cleanse and dry your skin. Do not apply serums, acids, oils or exfoliants underneath the mask.
- Wear the eye protection and secure the mask with the adjustable straps.

The acne-focused difference
Blue light acts on light-sensitive compounds in acne-causing bacteria. Clear pairs it with red for mild to moderate inflammatory facial acne. It is not a general-purpose treatment for pigmentation or all types of blemishes.

The shared wavelength

When not to use these devices
Omnilux lists the following contraindications for Contour, Men and Clear. Read the full instructions for your exact device before use.
- Pregnancy, planning pregnancy / trying to conceive, or breastfeeding.
- Lupus erythematosus, photosensitive eczema or albinism.
- A disorder that makes the skin unusually sensitive to light; Clear also explicitly excludes photosensitive eye disorders.
- Medication that causes photosensitivity.
- Headaches triggered by light.
- Inherited (genetic) eye conditions.
Questions to resolve before use
Medicines, supplements & active skincare
Have your pharmacist or prescriber check your exact medicines and supplements for light sensitivity. Omnilux advises against combining treatment with retinol or isotretinoin without individual professional guidance. Never stop a prescribed medicine to use a mask.
Eyes & light sensitivity
Clear has integrated eye shields; follow its fitting instructions. Contour and Men do not normally require eye protection, but this does not override eye contraindications. If you have an eye condition or sensitivity, ask your eye-care professional first.
Cancer or cancer treatment
Omnilux advises against LED use if you have cancer or are undergoing cancer treatment. Discuss your situation and medicines with your oncology team before considering a device.
Clear needs these additional checks
Clear: acne type & schedule
Age 14+. For mild to moderate inflammatory facial acne. Do not use for severe acne, only blackheads/whiteheads without inflamed spots, or clear skin to prevent spots. Use four times weekly for six weeks, then a break; never more than six consecutive weeks.
Clear: pigmentation & eyes
Blue light can cause temporary darkening, especially in skin prone to pigmentation and Fitzpatrick types IV–VI. Ask a dermatologist if this applies to you. Use the integrated eye shields as instructed; light-sensitive or inherited eye conditions are contraindications.
Clear: one person only
The manufacturer says Clear must not be shared. This also matters for demonstrations: our Edmonton team can explain Clear and its fit, but a shared Clear treatment is not appropriate. The general in-store mask invitation does not override this restriction.
Your first session, step by step
Test before the first session
Follow your device’s sensitivity test. The guides describe a 10-minute session on the inner arm, followed by a wait of at least six hours. If redness or itching develops, do not continue. Passing a test does not cancel a contraindication.
Prepare skin & follow the protocol
Use clean, bare skin; remove makeup, sunscreen and aftershave. Check skincare compatibility first and apply suitable skincare afterwards. Follow your device’s cleaning and fitting instructions. More sessions are not a shortcut to results.
Stop if something feels wrong
Stop for burning, unusual discomfort, a marked skin reaction, headache or a visual change. Seek appropriate medical advice if symptoms persist or concern you. Do not use a damaged device or use it while charging.
