A multi-pathway nighttime serum for dark spots, uneven tone and dehydrated skin
Award-winning Le Mieux Brightening Serum is a creamy nighttime treatment formulated to improve the appearance of sun-induced dark spots, post-blemish marks, dullness and uneven pigmentation. Rather than relying on one brightening ingredient, it combines azelaic acid, tranexamic acid, niacinamide, alpha-arbutin, vitamin C derivatives, diacetyl boldine, licorice root and mulberry leaf extract.
The formula also includes the Hya10+ Complex—10 forms of hyaluronic acid—to support hydration and visible plumpness while ceramide NP, botanical oils, shea butter and phospholipids help condition the moisture barrier. Galactomyces ferment filtrate forms the base, complemented by antioxidants and peptides for a smoother, more luminous-looking complexion.
Brightening Serum is intended to improve uneven-looking pigmentation, not bleach the skin or eliminate its natural melanin. Consistent nighttime use must be paired with diligent daytime sun protection; otherwise, new exposure can undermine progress.

- Sun-induced dark spots
- Uneven-looking pigmentation
- Flat post-blemish marks
- Dull or lacklustre skin
- Uneven-looking skin tone
- Dehydration accompanying discoloration
- Early visible signs of environmental damage

Brightening Serum is not intended to remove raised, indented or structural acne scars. Persistent melasma or rapidly changing pigmentation should be assessed by a qualified skincare or medical professional.
Why It Is Different
Brightening Serum approaches uneven pigmentation through several complementary cosmetic pathways while supporting hydration and the moisture barrier.
It is not a lightweight acid solution. The creamy formula pairs pigment-focused ingredients with hyaluronic acid forms, ceramide, peptides, shea butter and botanical oils, making it especially relevant when pigmentation is accompanied by dryness or visible signs of aging.
- Azelaic Acid: Supports clearer-looking pores and helps improve the appearance of discoloration, post-blemish marks and uneven texture.
- Tranexamic Acid: Helps target the appearance of persistent uneven pigmentation and dark spots.
- Niacinamide: Supports barrier function while helping improve dullness, uneven-looking tone and visible pore appearance.
- Alpha-Arbutin: Helps reduce the visible appearance of excess pigmentation and post-blemish marks.
- Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate: An oil-soluble vitamin C derivative that provides antioxidant and brightening support.
- Ascorbyl Propyl Hyaluronate: A vitamin C–related hyaluronic acid derivative that contributes antioxidant and conditioning benefits.
- Diacetyl Boldine: A complexion-brightening ingredient used to support a more even-looking tone.
- Licorice Root and Mulberry Leaf Extracts: Provide antioxidant support and help improve the appearance of uneven pigmentation.
- Hya10+ Complex: Combines 10 forms of hyaluronic acid to hydrate, soften and visibly plump the skin.
- Ceramide NP: Helps reinforce the moisture barrier and reduce moisture loss.
- Oligopeptide-225 and Complementary Peptides: Support smoother, firmer and more refined-looking skin.
- Bisabolol, Allantoin and Aloe: Help comfort and condition the skin.
How to Use
Use at night only.
After cleansing and toning, gently pat one to two pumps onto the face and neck, avoiding the eyelids and immediate eye area. Apply after lightweight, water-based serums and before moisturizer.
For sensitive skin or those new to multi-active brightening treatments, begin every other evening for one to two weeks. Increase to nightly use only if the skin remains comfortable.
During the introduction period, avoid applying Brightening Serum in the same routine as retinol, strong exfoliating acids, peel pads or another concentrated pigmentation treatment.
Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen every morning and reapply during prolonged daylight exposure. Consistent sun protection is essential when trying to improve discoloration.
Loshen & Crem’s Recommendation
Pigmentation requires patience and consistency. Apply Brightening Serum across the full area affected by uneven tone rather than chasing individual spots with excessive product. One pump may be sufficient for the face; use a second pump when extending the treatment to the neck.
Because the formula is creamy and contains shea butter, ceramide and botanical oils, dry and mature skin may appreciate its cushioning texture. Combination or congestion-prone skin should begin with a smaller amount and monitor how the skin responds.
If you use a dedicated vitamin C serum, apply it in the morning and reserve Brightening Serum for the evening. This creates a focused routine without stacking every brightening ingredient at once.
For melasma, Brightening Serum may provide helpful cosmetic support, but it should not be presented as a cure. Melasma is persistent and influenced by several factors, including UV exposure, visible light, heat and hormones. A professionally selected Cyspera, Meline or Cosmelan program may be more appropriate for some clients.
Do not place Brightening Serum inside the Le Mieux Ionized Oxygen Infuser. Le Mieux specifically identifies it as incompatible with the device. Apply it directly to the skin by hand.
Complete the Le Mieux Brightening Routine
Morning:
- Cleanse: Peptide Foam Cleanser or Phyto-Nutrient Cleansing Gel
- Support Radiance: Apply Vita-C Serum if desired
- Moisturize: Follow with Essence Moisturizer or another moisturizer suited to your skin
- Protect: Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen and reapply as needed
Evening:
- Cleanse: Remove makeup and cleanse thoroughly

- Treat: Pat one to two pumps of Brightening Serum onto the face and neck
- Moisturize: Follow with Essence Moisturizer, Bio Cell Rejuvenating Cream or 24 Hr. Age Defying Cream
Brightening Toner, peel pads and stronger exfoliating treatments can be used on alternate evenings if appropriate. They do not need to accompany Brightening Serum every night.
Brightening Serum, Brightening Toner or Vita-C Serum?
These products support radiance in different ways.
- Choose Brightening Serum for a concentrated nighttime treatment addressing dark spots, post-blemish marks and uneven tone. It combines multiple brightening ingredients in a creamy, hydrating base.
- Choose Brightening Toner for a hydrating liquid treatment that supports radiance and mild surface renewal. It contains mandelic acid and aromatic essential oils, which may not suit every sensitive complexion.
- Choose Vita-C Serum for antioxidant support, dullness and general brightness in a lighter serum that can be used in the morning.
- Choose Perfect Renewal when texture, congestion and post-blemish marks are priorities and a 10% mandelic acid peel-pad treatment is preferred.
- Choose a professional pigmentation program when melasma or persistent discoloration has not responded to a consistent home routine.
Most clients do not need Brightening Toner, Perfect Renewal and Brightening Serum in the same evening.
Dark Spots, Post-Blemish Marks and Melasma
These concerns are related but not identical.
- Sun-induced dark spots develop following cumulative UV exposure and often appear as defined areas of excess pigmentation.
- Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation appears after inflammation, blemishes, picking or irritation. These marks are flat and may gradually fade as the skin renews.
- Melasma is a recurring pigmentation condition commonly influenced by hormones, UV exposure, visible light, heat and individual predisposition.
- Acne scars may be indented or raised and involve structural changes in the skin. A topical brightening serum cannot remove this type of scar.
Brightening Serum is best positioned for the visible appearance of excess pigmentation. It is not a medical treatment for melasma or structural scarring.
What Do the Clinical Percentages Mean?
Le Mieux states that Brightening Serum is clinically shown to reduce melanin synthesis by up to 80% and minimize the appearance of UV-induced dark spots by 42–56%.
However, the current public product page does not disclose the number of participants, testing duration, study design or whether both percentages were measured using the complete finished formula rather than individual ingredient testing.
Loshen & Crem therefore presents these figures as manufacturer-reported results, not guaranteed outcomes. Individual results depend on the type and depth of pigmentation, consistency of use, sun exposure and the complete skincare routine.
Melanin and Responsible Brightening
Melanin is the natural pigment that gives colour to the skin and helps protect it against ultraviolet exposure. The goal of a brightening serum is not to eliminate melanin or lighten someone’s natural skin tone.
A responsible pigmentation routine focuses on areas where pigment has become uneven or excessive while protecting the surrounding skin from inflammation and additional exposure.
This distinction is especially important for deeper skin tones, where irritation and aggressive exfoliation can trigger further post-inflammatory pigmentation.
Azelaic Acid and Exfoliating Acids
Despite its name, azelaic acid is not an alpha hydroxy acid or beta hydroxy acid. It is a dicarboxylic acid used in skincare to support clearer-looking pores, more even tone and smoother texture.
The concentration and pH of azelaic acid in Brightening Serum are not disclosed. The formula should not be compared directly with a prescription azelaic acid treatment or assumed to function as a high-strength chemical peel.
Understanding the Hya10+ Complex
Brightening Serum contains 10 forms of hyaluronic acid:
- Sodium Hyaluronate
- Hyaluronic Acid
- Zinc Hydrolyzed Hyaluronate
- Hydroxypropyltrimonium Hyaluronate
- Sodium Hyaluronate Dimethylsilanol
- Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer
- C12-13 Alkyl Glyceryl Hydrolyzed Hyaluronate
- Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid
- Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate
- Ascorbyl Propyl Hyaluronate
Together, they support moisture retention, visible surface plumping and skin comfort. They do not create permanent volume or function like injectable hyaluronic acid.

Frequently Asked Questions
What types of pigmentation does Brightening Serum target?
It is formulated to improve the appearance of sun-induced dark spots, uneven tone, dullness and flat post-blemish marks.
Can Brightening Serum treat melasma?
It may support a more even-looking complexion within a melasma routine, but it is not a cure or prescription treatment. Melasma is persistent and frequently requires a broader plan involving strict sun protection and professionally selected treatments.
Can it fade marks left by blemishes?
Yes, it may help improve flat brown or grey post-blemish marks. It will not remove raised or indented acne scars.
Will it bleach my skin?
No. The goal is to improve uneven pigmentation and restore visible clarity, not alter the skin’s natural colour.
Is Brightening Serum hydroquinone-free?
No hydroquinone appears in the current published ingredient list.
Does it contain retinol?
No retinol or retinoid appears in the current ingredient list. Bidens pilosa is a botanical extract and should not be described as retinol.
Does it contain vitamin C?
Yes. The formula contains tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate and ascorbyl propyl hyaluronate, two vitamin C–related ingredients.
What percentage of azelaic acid does it contain?
Le Mieux does not disclose the percentage of azelaic acid in the current formula. It should not be compared directly with a prescription or single-active azelaic acid treatment.
How often should I use it?
Begin every other evening if you are new to brightening treatments or have sensitive skin. Increase to nightly use when the skin remains comfortable.
Can I use it during the day?
Le Mieux directs Brightening Serum for nighttime use only. Apply a separate antioxidant serum and broad-spectrum sunscreen during the day.
How long does it take to improve dark spots?
Pigmentation changes gradually. Allow approximately eight to twelve weeks of consistent use before assessing progress, while recognizing that results vary and no specific timeline is guaranteed by the current product information.
Is sunscreen really necessary?
Yes. Daily broad-spectrum sunscreen is essential. Without consistent protection, UV and visible-light exposure can darken existing pigmentation and encourage new discoloration.
Is it suitable for all skin tones?
The formula can support uneven pigmentation across skin tones. Deeper skin tones should introduce active treatments cautiously because irritation itself can lead to additional post-inflammatory pigmentation.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
Potentially, but the formula combines several active brightening ingredients. Patch test first, begin every other evening and avoid combining it immediately with several exfoliants or retinoids.
Is Brightening Serum fragrance-free?
No parfum, fragrance or essential oils appear in the published ingredient list. Individual sensitivity to botanical extracts and other components can still vary.
Can oily or blemish-prone skin use it?
Possibly, but the creamy formula contains shea butter, palm oil, rice bran oil, cottonseed oil, linseed oil and other emollients. These ingredients are not automatically pore-clogging, but the texture may feel rich on very oily skin. It is not an acne medication.
Can I combine it with retinol?
Use them on alternate evenings when beginning. Combining a retinoid with this multi-active brightening serum may increase dryness or irritation.
Can I combine it with exfoliating acids?
Alternate Brightening Serum with peel pads, glycolic acid, mandelic acid or salicylic acid until tolerance has been established. Daily use of multiple active treatments is unnecessary for most clients.
Can I use it with Vita-C Serum?
Yes. A practical routine is Vita-C Serum in the morning and Brightening Serum at night, followed by daily sunscreen.
Can I use Brightening Toner underneath it?
Some clients may tolerate the combination, but both products contain active brightening ingredients. Loshen & Crem recommends beginning on alternate evenings, particularly for sensitive or dehydration-prone skin.
Can I apply it only to individual dark spots?
It can be applied to targeted areas, but pigmentation is often more widespread than the most visible spots. A thin, even layer across the affected area generally supports a more uniform-looking result.
Can I use it around the eyes?
Avoid the eyelids and immediate eye contour. Use a dedicated eye product for that area.
Can it be used on the neck and décolleté?
Le Mieux directs application to the face and neck. It may also be extended cautiously to the décolleté if the skin tolerates it, followed by daily sun protection.
Can I use it with the Ionized Oxygen Infuser?
No. Le Mieux specifically identifies Brightening Serum as incompatible with the Ionized Oxygen Infuser. Apply it directly by hand.
Can I use it with the Skin Perfecter?
Because it is a creamy, emollient-rich serum, Loshen & Crem prefers applying it by hand. Use a lighter water-based serum for the Skin Perfecter’s serum-application technique.
Can it be used after a professional peel, laser treatment or microneedling?
Only after the professional who performed the procedure confirms that the skin is fully healed. Introducing a multi-active brightening serum too early may increase irritation and post-inflammatory pigmentation.
Can Brightening Serum be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
The formula contains alpha-arbutin, tranexamic acid and several other active brightening ingredients. Pregnancy and breastfeeding safety data for complete cosmetic formulas remain limited. Consult your physician or qualified healthcare provider before use.
What do the 80% and 42–56% clinical claims mean?
Le Mieux reports up to an 80% reduction in melanin synthesis and a 42–56% reduction in the appearance of UV-induced dark spots. The current public product page does not provide the study design, number of participants, duration or sufficient information to determine whether these percentages relate to the complete formula. Individual results are not guaranteed.
