Platysma

THE 20-MINUTE JAWLINE + LOWER-FACE SCULPTING MASK

Not every change in the face begins with a wrinkle.

Sometimes what you notice first is the outline.

The jawline looks softer.
The area beneath the chin appears less defined.
The lower face simply doesn't have the same structure it once did.

Biologique Recherche Platysma is a single-use firming chin mask designed specifically for this submental and lower-face area.

Its unique stretch fabric anchors around the ears and beneath the chin, creating a mechanical tension similar to a targeted facial massage while a concentrated firming serum works directly over the jawline and neck.

After 20 minutes, the lower face appears more toned, facial contours look more defined and the mandibular line appears visibly refined.

This is not a full-face sheet mask.

It is architecture for the lower face.

Skin Instant:

Recommended for Skin Instants with sagging facial contours.

We particularly think about Platysma when you notice:

• Reduced jawline definition
• Softer-looking facial contours
• Visible laxity beneath the chin
• Changes through the lower face
• Reduced skin tone
• A less defined facial oval
• A desire for an immediate pre-event firming effect

Why Is It Called Platysma?

The platysma is a superficial muscle extending through the neck toward the jaw and lower face.

Its fibres travel upward and attach around the mandible and corners of the mouth.

As the face changes over time, the tissues in this area can lose some of their structural support and the lower facial contour may appear softer.

Biologique Recherche specifically connects this region with the phenomenon known as ptosis — visible tissue descent or sagging.

Platysma was designed around that exact anatomy.

Instead of trying to make one conventional face mask address every area equally, the product concentrates its mechanical and cosmetic action where lower-face definition tends to change most visibly.

The Mask Does Two Jobs at Once

Platysma is unusual because the support itself is part of the treatment.

1. Mechanical action

The stretch fabric fits beneath the chin and anchors around the ears.

This creates controlled tension across the lower face, producing a massage-like tautening effect.

2. Firming serum

The fabric is saturated with ingredients selected to support a firmer, smoother-looking complexion.

Together, these two actions help:

• Visibly redefine the jawline
• Improve the appearance of lower-face tone
• Smooth the submental area
• Create a more harmonious-looking facial contour

That dual action is what separates Platysma from a conventional sheet mask.

How to Use:

Begin with clean, dry skin on the face and neck.

1. Open the sachet and unfold Platysma completely, positioning the guide tab at the upper left.
2. Place the upper openings around the ears.
3. Press the lower section beneath the chin.
4. Secure the lower openings around the ears.
5. Smooth the fabric so it follows the contours of the jawline and lower face.
6. Leave on for 20 minutes.
7. Remove and discard the mask.

Single-use product.

For external use only.

Loshen & Crem’s Recommendation:

Platysma is what we think about when someone tells us:

• “My jawline doesn't look as sharp anymore.”
• “It's the area underneath my chin that bothers me.”
• “My lower face just feels softer.”
• “I want something before an event that makes everything look more defined.”
• “My concern isn't really wrinkles — it's the shape of my face.”

That last one is exactly why Platysma deserves its own category.

Wrinkles are one conversation.

Density is another.

Elasticity is another.

And facial contour definition is another again.

Platysma is designed for that last conversation.

We particularly love it before an event, photography or an evening out when you want the lower face to look a little more polished and defined without adding another aggressive active to your routine.

The Jawline Event Ritual

Keep it focused.

1. Cleanse thoroughly.
2. Apply the Lotion P50 appropriate for your Skin Instant.
3. Apply the serums your skin actually needs.
4. Position Platysma and leave on for 20 minutes.
5. Remove.
6. Follow with your appropriate moisturizer.

No last-minute exfoliation experiment.

No attempting to sculpt your jawline through sheer force with a massage tool.

Let the mask do what it was designed to do.

Platysma vs. VG Tensil

These two belong in the same firming conversation, but one is an occasional intensive treatment and the other is an ongoing serum.

Choose Platysma when you want:

• A targeted 20-minute treatment
• Immediate lower-face refinement
• Jawline-focused care
• An occasional pre-event treatment
• Mechanical + cosmetic tautening

Choose VG Tensil when the ongoing concern is:

• Loss of facial tone
• Reduced firmness
• Softer contours
• A need for daily firming serum support

Think:

• Platysma → immediate lower-face treatment
• VG Tensil → ongoing firmness + tone serum

Platysma vs. Masque Caviar Vert

Both can create a tauter-looking complexion, but their targets are very different.

Masque Caviar Vert treats the whole face and focuses on:

• Wrinkles
• Fine lines
• Smoothing
• Visible tautening
• Overall facial refinement

Platysma targets the:

• Jawline
• Chin
• Submental area
• Lower facial oval

Think:

• Caviar Vert → facial smoothing + tautening
• Platysma → jawline + lower-face definition

If wrinkles are what you notice first, Caviar Vert may make more sense.

If it's your jawline, Platysma is far more targeted.

Platysma + Sérum Matriciel Visage

For clients focused specifically on facial structure and contour, Platysma can complement Sérum Matriciel Visage.

Their roles are different:

• Platysma → occasional targeted jawline mask
• Sérum Matriciel Visage → ongoing facial structure treatment

This creates a much more logical firming strategy than relying on a single 20-minute mask to provide long-term structural change.

What Does “Anti-Ptosis” Mean?

“Ptosis” simply refers to visible sagging or downward displacement of tissue.

Biologique Recherche uses the term to describe the loss of definition that can become visible through the submental area and facial contours over time.

Platysma is therefore described as an anti-ptosis mask because it provides an immediate mechanical and cosmetic tautening effect across this area.

It does not mean the mask permanently restructures facial anatomy.

The result is cosmetic and temporary — and that's still a very useful result when used for the right reason.

Platysma is a single-use firming and anti-ptosis chin mask designed specifically for sagging facial contours and the submental area.

Its stretchy support creates a mechanical tautening action while the serum provides targeted firming support.

What area does Platysma treat?

It primarily targets:

• The chin
• Under the chin
• Jawline
• Lower facial contour
• Upper neck/submental area

How long do I leave Platysma on?

Biologique Recherche currently recommends 20 minutes.

Is Platysma reusable?

No.

It is a single-use mask.

Does Platysma lift the jawline?

Biologique Recherche describes it as providing an anti-gravity and anti-ptosis effect through the combination of its stretch support and firming ingredients.

It can make the jawline appear visibly more defined after treatment.

The result should be understood as temporary cosmetic tautening rather than permanent lifting.

Does Platysma help a double chin?

Platysma can improve the immediate appearance of the skin and contour beneath the chin.

It does not remove submental fat or permanently alter the anatomy of a double chin.

Does Platysma reduce sagging?

Its current manufacturer positioning is specifically for sagging contours.

The mask creates an immediate firming and tautening effect that can make the lower face appear more defined.

Does Platysma help jowls?

If softer-looking jowls are related to changes in skin tone and facial contour, the temporary tautening effect may make the area look more refined.

A sheet mask cannot permanently reposition structural tissue.

Is Platysma an alternative to fillers or tightening procedures?

No.

We would not compare a 20-minute cosmetic mask directly with medical procedures.

Platysma provides an immediate, non-invasive cosmetic firming effect with no downtime, but the mechanism and longevity are entirely different.

Is Platysma good before an event?

Yes.

This is one of our favourite ways to use it because the immediate tautening and contour-refining effect makes it particularly suited to pre-event skincare.

What is the difference between Platysma and VG Tensil?

Platysma is an occasional 20-minute mask focused very specifically on the jawline and lower face.

VG Tensil is an ongoing serum designed for Skin Instants experiencing loss of tone and firmness.

What is the difference between Platysma and Masque Caviar Vert?

Masque Caviar Vert is a full-face biocellulose treatment focused on wrinkles, smoothing and tautening.

Platysma is a stretch-fabric mask specifically designed around the chin and lower facial contours.

Can I use Platysma with Masque Caviar Vert?

They serve complementary zones, but we generally recommend understanding how each treatment works individually before building a multi-mask protocol.

For a special event, your skin expert can help determine whether combining treatments makes sense.

Can I use Platysma every week?

Biologique Recherche's current consumer instructions specify the 20-minute single-use application but do not prescribe one universal frequency.

Use should reflect your Skin Instant and goals.

Does Platysma contain collagen?

The current INCI does not list collagen as an ingredient.

The formula instead contains botanical extracts, proteins, algae-derived ingredients and film-forming agents selected for its firming effect.

Does Platysma contain rye?

Yes.

The current formula contains Secale Cereale (Rye) Seed Extract.
