Cellulite and Body Care: What Skincare Can—and Can’t—Do
Body care can be a lovely daily ritual. It can soften the feel of dry skin and make a few minutes after your shower more enjoyable. It should not come with a promise to erase cellulite.
What about cellulite?
Cellulite is common, including in people who are fit. It is not a sign that you have failed to care for your body. The American Academy of Dermatology explains that cellulite and body fat are different concerns, and treatments vary considerably in their results.
A massage glove or body cream should not be presented as a way to eliminate fat. Some products may temporarily change the appearance of skin, but that is different from removing cellulite.
Choose a ritual for comfort
Start with the texture you enjoy. A lotion may be easier to use when you are getting dressed quickly; a richer cream may feel more comforting in the evening. The most useful choice is one you like enough to reach for.
If you enjoy massage, keep the pressure comfortable. There is no need to make your skin sore to feel you have done something worthwhile.
Keep the expectations honest
At Loshen & Crem, we would rather explain what a cosmetic product can reasonably offer than turn normal skin texture into a problem you must solve. If you want to explore a procedure for cellulite, speak with a qualified medical professional about benefits, risks and realistic outcomes.
